Chapter 10: Connected Pasts

After a day of shopping at Diagon Alley, everyone went to back to the Leaky Cauldron they rented some rooms to stay in for the night, Harry and Henry were petting their owls, Harry named his owl Hedwig after a name he'd seen in the book A History of Magic and Henry's named his owl Newt after Newt Scamander the author of the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Everyone was gathered around one of the tables eating their dinner, Hagrid and Henry's aunt and uncle noticed Harry and Henry barely touching their food.

You alright Harry?, you seem very quiet asked Hagrid

Is there something wrong Henry? asked Wendy

He killed both our parents didn't he?, the one who gave me this asked Harry as he touched his scar

You know Hagrid, we know you do said Hagrid

Hagrid then looked over at Wendy and Oliver they knew they had to tell them when they were old enough about what happened to their parents, Hagrid then stopped eating his soup as he, Wendy and Oliver proceeded to tell Harry and Henry about how their parents died.

First and understand this boys cause it's very important not all wizards are good, some of them go bad said Hagrid

He's right, there have been many dark wizards over the years like Gellert Grindelwald said Oliver

But there was one wizard who went as bad as you can go, and he was just as bad as Grindelwald and his name was V-, his name was V- said Hagrid struggling to say the name

Maybe if you wrote it down said Harry

No I can't spell it, alright..Voldemort Hagrid whispered

Voldemort? said Harry and Henry

Hagrid shushed them from saying the name despite there being very few people around, Hagrid continued telling his story.

It was dark times Harry, dark times, Voldemort started to gather some followers brought them over to the dark side anyone who stood up to him ended up dead Hagrid recounted "your parents fought against him but nobody lived once he decided to kill 'em, nobody not one except you"

Me?, Voldemort tried to kill me? asked Harry

Yes, that ain't no ordinary cut on your forehead Harry, a mark like that only comes from being touched by a curse and an evil curse at that said Hagrid

What about mum and dad, how'd they die? Henry asked his aunt and uncle

Your mother and father were friends with the Potters, Voldemort came to their house, he tried to get information on where they were hiding, they refused to tell him so he murdered them, a few days later he found the Potters Wendy recounted

He died to protect Harry's parents, they protect you said Oliver

But what happened to Vol-, to You-Know-Who? asked Harry

Well some say he died, Codswallop in my opinion, nope I reckon he's out there still too tired to carry on said Hagrid "but one thing's absolutely certain something about you stumped him that night, that's why you're famous, that's why everybody knows your name, you're the boy who lived"

As soon as they finished their story, Harry and Henry just sat there, letting it all sink in that both their parents died so they could live, the boys would start school on the first of September and they couldn't wait for their first year of Hogwarts to start and their learnings of the magical arts to begin.
