"how was your first day, sweetie?" kath asked her niece.

ava hesitated for a second before putting down her bag, "it was alright."

"made any friends?"

do i consider her as one?
she's too cute not to be...

what are you saying, ava?

"i guess? there's stacey, she's blond--"

kath laughed at that unexpected comment, "uh-huh?"

"and there's claudia."

"that's nice, hun."

"good to hear you're finally socializing." amelia teased, approaching the table and sitting down.

ava rolled eyes at her sister's teasing.

"hey, you were hanging out with my friends last year." amelia reminded her

"whatever. i'm in 7th grade, i matured."

amelia and kath would just laugh at ava, amused by her words.

"totally." amelia sarcastically replied.

ava sneered at amelia.

"well, how about you, ame?" kath asked her older niece.

"the usual."

what's "the usual"?

"what, did you break boys' hearts in one day?"

"y'know me. they can't resist." amelia shrugged, "it's like being in the cheerleading team is an automatic yes for men."

"that's... weird."

kath cleared her throat, "do you guys want me to pack you lunch?"

"oh, i do!" ava smiled, excitedly.

tita kath (aunt kath) makes the best food, and that is not an exaggeration.

"i don't." amelia shrugged it off, setting her attention on her phone.

"how could you not?" ava questioned in disbelief, which did not get answered.

"teenagers, best to ignore them." kath joked in which she received an eyeroll from amelia.

wasn't she also a teenager?

"tita," ava trailed off.

"hm?"

"what were you like as a teenager?"

kath sputtered her words as if nervous.

"oh, you should've heard!" amelia put down her phone, ready to tell a story, "aunt kath was--"

"ah nope!" kath quickly covered amelia's mouth to silence her.
