Silence.
Some of my Wattpad friendships have ended because of arguments, or personality clashes. Some friendships have ended because the other person quit Wattpad. Some friendships ended because we simply stopped interacting.
I have learned from my mistakes, and I'd be grateful to re-friend all those friends who I lost along the way, both on and off Wattpad, but that's the past. All I can do now—and all you can do now—is change what we are going to do today.
Here are some things we can do:
👉 Don't unfollow people. We should follow people whose books we like to read, people who we talk to, and as long as they're around and active, we should stay connected!
👉 Keep voting. Even if we're not reading, let's keep voting for our friends' books.
👉 Send a DM every once in a while.
👉 Actually reply. If someone sends us a message, let's answer them!
👉 Don't forget about Wattpad for a month. I never do this, but I know some people do. Let's try to stay active!
👉 Don't critique people unless they ask. People come her to socialize and share their work. Shy people come here because they don't want to share their stories with IRL friends and family. Not everyone is here to be author. Let's be kind to them!
👉 Ask about them. Remember, it's about you AND them!
👉 Be kind. This bears saying again and again! Be compassionate.
👉 Don't be cliquish. We might find ourselves in a group of friends with a lot in common. Let's not exclude others, though, but rather let's welcome them in!
👉 Stay humble. We're all just people!
👉 Chin up! For as long as this app is around, there will be great people on it!
