I padded down the stairs, warily keeping my eyes on Grayson.

I feel bad for following him, but I don't know what else to do. It's something about the sunset that gets him in edge, and I don't think the curious side of me is going to let it go until I find out why.

He walks quickly, looking around as if he's searching for someone. And the moment he doesn't seem to find who he's looking for, his face transforms into fear, and he leads me toward the front door without even knowing it.

I keep a fair distance once we make it outside. I keep behind trees, my footsteps light as he strolls into the forest with determination.

Where's he going?

I pause, my hand against a tree I look around, catching Grayson push through the undergrowth as if it's nothing. My heart flutters with the excitement of following him. If he catches me, I might be in big trouble, but I'm too anxious to turn around now.

So I continue to follow him, skipping from tree to tree like a spy in a movie, while Grayson strides ahead.

This went on for a few more minutes, Grayson's long legs forcing us deeper into the forest. As he walks, he manages to pull his shirt off, tossing it off to the side.

The sun, almost completely sunk behind the horizon illuminates the muscles of his back as he moves. It's my beckon, as the dim light crawls deeper through the trees, infecting every little space with darkness.

Is he going to meet someone? The idea comes unpleasantly into my mind that he's meeting some girl, and I try to brush it off. Grayson isn't like that...

Suddenly he stops in his tracks, just as I was about to hop to the next tree trunk. I slid backward, concealing myself as he turned his head slightly. I'm far enough back that he can't have heard my footsteps, but something has caught his attention.

And then he starts walking again, hands shoved into his pant pockets, facing he disappearing sun.

Before I could make it any further in my pursuit of Grayson, a hand came over my mouth.

"Are you out of your mind?" A familiar voice filled my senses.

I kick and pull, pushing myself from his grip. Twisting around, I meet the alert violet eyes that belong to only one Alpha in this world. Jasper.

"Were you following me?" I question angrily, brushing out my clothes that he just rumpled up. He raised a dark eyebrow from beneath his ruffled hair.

"Returning the favour on behalf of Grayson," he muses, leaning back against the tree I was just hiding behind. Glancing over my shoulder, I notice Grayson had continued off into the forest, completely oblivious to Jasper and I.

"Why are you here?"

He shrugged. "I'm everywhere."

Sighing, I run a hand through my hair. Now that I've stopped walking, the cold has seeped through my clothes and is attacking my skin.
