Chapter 4
Car Ride
• Kate's POV •
The New York City traffic was irritating as I drove to the park with Jack in the back seat. Not to mention the continuos crying and me having to drive with one hand in the wheel and one hand in the back seat for Jack to chew on. Once he stopped crying, I returned my right hand to the wheel.
A red light appeared and I stopped. A group of dog walkers crossed the crosswalk and Jack giggled at them. I couldn't help but smile at the sound of child laughter. I looked back to Jack and stuck my tongue out and he giggled even more.
The light turned green so I drove forward. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a speeding white blob. I turned my head just as the huge pickup truck slammed into the side of my car, sending us flying through the air and spiraling into a telephone pole. And then blackness rolled over my world.
