Here, have some art by yours truly. It's supposed to be Nightshade and Rudy standing (or sitting) in front of Tsunami Canyon. I clearly suck at backgrounds, but I tried. Also I don't have any digital art programs so have my crappy photography skills :)

Rudy's P.O.V
A loud bugle horn sounds through the stables, and I nearly pee all over myself.

Off to a great start.

August shushes me, "It's ok. It's just the stupid horn. The race will start soon."

I hear West grunt in pain, "Get up, West. We've got to get Rudy ready for this race."

West yawns, "Yeah, yeah," he mumbles, "I'll get the saddle and horseshoes.

Horseshoes?

West returns shortly with some things clanging together in his hand.

August sighs and pulls up one of my hooves.

I try to move away from him, "It's alright." He says softly, "We're only gonna put these things on your hooves. They're like shoes, only for horses..."

He ended that off very awkwardly.

About ten minutes later and every hoof has a shoe on it. It's weird, but I don't mind.

West places the saddle on me, "Wait. August?"

"What's up?"

"Should we give this to him?"

They mumble to each other before placing a very soft fabric around my head.

"It's something that Harp gave to me," West whispers adjusting the saddle, "She said it's for good luck." He pats my hind quarters, "You're gonna need it."

After failing to put that bridle on me they have to go get Miracle.

Nightshade says she's all types of fancied up.

Reluctantly, I let her slip it on.

"August, how much time do we have?" Miracle asks, mounting up.

"About two hours. We haven't got any time to lose."

West leads us out of the stable and down to someplace.

All I know is that there are A LOT of people and Mudsdale there.

I hear a gate open up, "Just walk him around in circles for warm up." West says, "It'll help in the long run."

"You got this Rudy!" Nightshade shouts, "I'll be watching the whole thing with Honey!"

"I haven't even started yet," I mumble.

"Well, go on." She encourages me in that overly cheerful tone.

Miracle flicks the reins and I move forward.

All of the Mudsdale are mumbling amongst themselves.

Their sneers are like fire burning through my skin.

But I brave through and continue walking until it's time for everyone to go to the starting lines.

"There are about one hundred horses here," Miracle whispers, "One hundred horses that we're gonna beat."

"Calm down there, Buster." Harper says with a chuckle, "You ain't done nothin' yet."

A whistle blows and everyone is silent. I can hear the sound of someones boots on the rocky dirt ground. They stop in front of us.

"Alright! Listen up everyone!" The man's voice is loud and booming.

"Today is the qualification race. This race will determine whether or not your loyal steed is fit enough to race. For every obstacle you mess up on, I will deduct two points. This race consists of hurdles and a long run through the Large Canyon. Jumping ability and trust is something that you will need to succeed. Honey will be up in the sky watching you, so no cheating! Before we start I would like to say something: Who's ready to watch Miracle crash and burn?" Roars of laughter fill my ears.
