"Someone's always full of himself, there's nothing there to see or like Kabeer" beelarh said rolling her eyes
"Pretty sure you'd be crushing if I wasn't your brother" he said smirking, beelarh only looked at him with disgust, I laughed at their drama
"Beelarh don't pay him no attention, guys would drool over you" I said making her giggle like a child and Kabeer high five his face
"Haa right in your face, I think I'm gonna make you my new bestie" she squeaked
"Yayy!" I exclaimed, I checked my phone and it was 12:04 "Oh shoot almost time for salaat (prayer), I gotta go, thank y'all for the meal I enjoyed it"
"Anytime bestie" Beelarh said smiling
"Always welcome" khaleefah said
"Don't mention" Khalil and Khalid said in unison
"You're not welcome, do mention, no time, why leave this soon?" Kabeer asked pouting
"I have to..." I was saying
"Oh don't you worry she'd be sleeping over" beelarh said immediately
"BEELARH??" I glared at her
"What?" She asked grinning "We're best friends right? Isn't it what best friends do?" She asked and I sighed
"Beelarh I can't spend the night here" I answered sincerely
"Why not?" She asked sadly
"Because what if my parents ask where I'm going"
"I could ask them for you" she said worriedly
"They aren't around, they travelled. My whole family did"
"Even better you'd spend the rest of the week here till they're back" Kabeer stated excitedly
"Why didn't you go along? You've been there all by yourself, what if a ghost pops out?" Beelarh asked crazily, her brothers only laughed "What?" She asked looking between them like they're silly
"Beelarh ghosts don't exist, I see what ghost busters has done to you" Kabeer said
"They exist" beelarh said rolling her eyes
"I don't believe in ghosts but I'd totally believe if they find out about their existence" I said shrugging
"You girls are something else" khaleefah said rolling his eyes, what's with this family and rolling their eyes I thought to myself
"Okay guys I gotta go, I'd be back by 5" I told them
"Alright best friend see you later" beelarh said
"Sister don't keep long you know this place's dangerous at night" Khalil warned
"I won't, thank you, see y'all later" I left with a smile and a full stomach, I know I shouldn't have ate so much now my stomach hurts I thought to myself. At home I freshened up, said my prayers, skipped lunch I was still full from breakfast, watched blackish laughed my ass out and crashed.
Woke up and checked the time twas 7 already with several missed calls from mom and beelarh, called mom back and she said they'd be returning the other week I had tell her about my sleepover and she agreed,
"Oh my God, I haven't packed yet" I thought, I hurriedly stuffed my bag and set off of course only after making sure the gates were locked, it was now 7:40, I plugged in my headphones and called beelarh back but she wasn't responding, I walked as fast as my legs could carry me, the street lights are dim so it was actually dark, I was grateful I had my flashlight. As I kept walking it felt like someone has been following me but I only brushed it off, I thought about our ghost story at noon and I smiled at that "Silly us" I thought, maybe I'm only imagining things. I was half a mile away from Beelarh's house when I didn't just felt the movement of someone but I heard the person's light footsteps, my heart started pounding loud across my chest and I increased my pace, it seemed like the person increased his pace too and I started running, I tripped and fell on my face. On flipping myself the person was already in front of me, I held my hands high to my face pleading
"You can take my bag please, and my phone too" I pleaded, he was quiet. Oh no maybe I said the wrong words, I hope he isn't mad, God I don't wanna die young please, I promise to be a good Muslim. Maybe I should try again
"There's an ATM down the road I could go there and withdraw all my money or I could just give you my card, please don't hurt me" I pleaded now in tears, he took my bag and I handed him my phone. Hahaha I heard him laugh which made me curious
"I could accept your offer but no thanks maybe next time" I heard a familiar voice say, a car passed by and flashed his face and I saw the dummy
"Kabeer?" I asked
"Yes my love" he answered
"KABEER!" I yelled "How could you?" I asked angrily
"You sure believe in ghosts, I've always thought you were one toughie but you my darling is as soft as a marshmallow" he said laughing
"I don't believe in ghosts, I thought it was a thief or a robber or a rapist or a kidnapper, do you know how scared I was right now? It's not funny Kabeer" I said angrily
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you but I was yelling your name all this while, didn't you hear?" He asked
"Ohh I had my earphones plugged in"
"What were you listening to?" He asked
"Despacitó by Justin Bieber" I answered proudly
"Isn't it late to be listening to music, you know it's haram right?" He asked concerned
"Yes mom, I'd quit soon" I replied, he only laughed
"Who is Justin?" He asked
"You don't know who Justin is?" I asked astonished
"Nopppp"
"You've got to be kidding me"
"No I'm not"
"If I was a belieber I'd kill you right now"
"What's with the b in believer?" He asked confused
"Goddd" I sighed "You know what never mind, I hope someday you crawl out of the cave you've been living in"
"No I actually like it in here... The cave is the best place to be" he said with a wink
"Arghh! Shoot me already" I said frustrated
"No my love I want you alive" he said making me roll my eyes "Of course I know Justin I mean who doesn't? A guy every teenage girl wants to die for, Beelarh puts him first before me, can you believe that?"
"Of course I can don't be surprised if I do too" I said smirking
"No you wouldn't dare" he stated
"Try me uuh yeah yeah" I said
"I'm not talking Dej loaf I'm being serious" he said angrily
"Damn I was only kidding, happy now?"
"Never been this happy" he said with a smile
