Narrator's POV

She stepped outside into the cool morning breeze to collect her newspaper when she'd spotted it. The single purple flower (lilac freesia) that made her heart stop. It was the same flower that grew outside of Doyle's old residence. His way of making it known that he's found her. Emily's mind immediately flashed back to the phone conversation she had just a week before. The call that had her on high alert ever since

"Doyle's back" Her old friend Tisa informed "He escaped the north Korean prison camp where he was being held about two weeks ago. Emily he entered the united states earlier this week under an old alias Chuck Murray" The woman explained

"Am I in danger?" Asked Emily, trying her best to keep the fear from her voice

"As of right now we have no reason to believe so. He wanted us to know of his presence why he used his old alias, but as far as Doyle's concerned Lauren Reynolds died in a car accident" Tisa replied

"Why wasnt I immediately informed when he escaped?" She questioned

"We had no reason to believe he'd be a threat" Said Tisa

"Because Lauren Reynolds is dead" She repeated more to herself that the caller

"Exactly. We're trying our best to track him, but until we do stay safe" Tisa advised before the line went dead

Emily quickly picked up the newspaper and flower before hurrying back into the safety of her apartment. Ever since she's found out of his escape she's been extremely careful, but after realizing he'd been targeting her old team she knew he'd eventually find her. She had a plan in motion to prevent that from happening but thought she'd have a little more time to ensure the safety of her family

"Is everything okay sweetheart?" Aaron questioned, standing in the kitchen making breakfast for both her and his four-year-old son Jack who'd spent his first weekend at her place

"Everything's great" She lied "And breakfast smells amazing" She smiled, kissing Jack's forehead before joining him at the breakfast bar, trying desperately to push Doyle to the back of her mind until the Hotchner boys headed out.

The brunette couple was six months into what they'd both describe as their best relationship yet. Both knew from the start that they wanted something permanent, something stable and they found that with each other
