"Nightshade. Nightshade!"

"What," she says, her mind still far away. All it takes is a touch to snap her out of her daze. "Sorry. I was thinking."

Prince sighs and goes back to sifting through the junk he bought. Stole. Apparently stealing isn't that much of a crime in this place. Prince says they're in a region called Hartbury. Hartbury's full of angry Pokémon that are always huffy about something or running around with twelve kids.

They all talk like Prince, but different, as everyone felt the need to point out. But this city isn't so bad. It's called Newwich, the city of Princess Sophia, yes, that is what the city sign said. The original writing was crossed out. From what the city Pokémon said, she isn't all that great. It's really no wonder; what kind of princess stays in a city? What kind of princess rules over anything? But enough about the princess.

In Newwich there's a place called Foxwick Manor and it's run by an Altaria called Demarion. Er, Duke Demarion. Nightshade wouldn't mind being called 'Princess Nightshade', but Prince doesn't want everyone calling him 'Prince Prince'.

The Duke of the Manor has yet to be seen. In fact, the Manor seems pretty empty. The only Pokémon outside are two Groundkeepers: a Gallade and Gardevoir that are so blinded by their love for each other they don't see the massive Charizard hiding in the hedges. Prince says 'Duke' Demarion is an old friend of his, but... come on. An orange creature with stripes and blue eyes hiding in the hedges doesn't raise any heads?

Considering Nightshade has never heard of Hartbury, and nobody seems to know what a Salazzle is or that Alola exists, it's safe to say they have no idea what an animal is. Prince wasn't kidding when he said most of Hartbury lives in their own bubble. It's probably the Princess' doing... where are her parents?

Just because Nightshade's never heard of it doesn't mean Violet hasn't. She actually listened in geography and global and international studies, whatever those are. Nightshade's fine with just knowing how to read a map and the stars.

Prince swears up and down that Newwich, especially Foxwick Manor is the place you want to go to hide. He has yet to elaborate on why, but she's not going to question him. She won't be the one going to jail for kidnapping.

"All right." Prince closes the bag, leaving the junk in a nice, neat pile. "I need you to go talk to those two turtledoves."

Nightshade peers through the hedges. "Can't you do it?"

     "I wouldn't have asked if I could."
