Later that night, Hannah and I closed up the shop and headed our separate ways. Shortly after arriving at my apartment, my phone buzzed unexpectedly.

1 New Message

From: UNKNOWN

Hey, this is Taehyung! Sorry that I took so long to send a message. My phone died.

Immediately, I replied.

Me: Hey! It's okay. I just got home from work!

Taehyung: How was it?

Me: It was boring once you guys left, but we closed early.

Taehyung: Will you be working tomorrow?

Me: Unfortunately. I'll be there all day.

Taehyung: It would've been cool if you could come to the fair with all of us tomorrow.

I sighed, wishing that I could go. It would be fun to go out and have fun instead of having to work all the time. As I get lost in my thoughts, I hear my phone beep again.

Taehyung: Hey, would you like to facetime?

It was a bit sudden to talk over the phone, but I agreed on it either way. As I waited patiently for Taehyung to start the call, Hannah calls before he even gets the chance.

"Hey!" She yelled happily, exploding my eardrum. "Hannah, why are you screaming?" She chuckled lightly, "Oh, just letting you know that I'm not working tomorrow and I'm going to the festival with a cute guy," I rolled my eyes jokingly, wishing that I could go too. It would be nice to have some fun. "As if I don't already know,"

"Skip work tomorrow," Hannah told me.

Taehyung would like to FaceTime.

"Hannah, I have to go! Taehyung is calling and--"

"Who?" She questioned curiously.

"Taehyung! He's the one who-- Ugh! I'll explain it later! Bye!" I was quick to hang up and answer Taehyung's FaceTime.

"Hey!" Taehyung answered with the widest boxy smile I had ever seen, and it made me smile in response. "Wassup?"

"I'm great. My friend, on the other hand, is not." He frowned. "I've been trying to get him to join us so he can finally talk to you, but I don't think it's happening anytime soon."

"Why not?" I asked curiously. He laughed half-heartedly. "When I told him I was going to call, he chucked his pillow at me and ran away." That's when he turned his phone camera, and I could see a slightly open doorway. "He just left, as you can see."

"Yah, Taehyung! Let me be!" I heard yelling on the other side of the doorway from where Taehyung was. "Come, say, hey!"

"No, I'm not dressed,"

"You don't have to be,"

"Taehyung, its a video call," I reminded from my end trying to make a point.

"Oh, but your body is nice, though! There's nothing to be worried about," Taehyung tried to assure his friend.

"She doesn't want to see my body, you idiot!"

"Well, I mean, I didn't say that I didn't want to see your body, but--" I whispered to myself and shook my head.

"Did you say something?" Taehyung's attention suddenly turned to me. Blushing profusely, I stammered out, "It's nothing,"

"Are you going to say hey and stop being a wuss, or are you going to hide away for the rest of your life?"

"You are aware of the fact that you sound ridiculous, right?" his friend retorted.

"Did you, by chance, forget that I'm still here cuz--?" I cut in.

"No, I didn't forget you!" Taehyung said and turned to face me again, smiling widely before scrunching his nose. "Anyway, since my friend is not acting as a friend right now-" he paused momentarily to glare at someone off-screen, "I was thinking, maybe after the festival, I could come and meet you?"

"What about me? I want to come along, too!" His friend yelled from a distance.

"Dude, you don't even want to see her right now!"

"That was the old me,"

"The old you? Really?" Taehyung asked with raised eyebrows, clearly not believing him.

As they kept bickering, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. Realizing that I was enjoying it, Taehyung quickly turned his camera over to whoever was there. I could just vaguely make out wet, messy hair, but his hand covered most of his face, and I still couldn't see him too well. I could see him smiling shyly, though.

"Hey, you!" I smiled directly at him. He seemed flustered and overall nervous.

"Hey," He replied shyly.

"Move your hand so I can see you," I beckoned.

He responded by putting two hands up so I couldn't see him anymore. I pouted. "Hey, that's not fair," I heard him chuckling, almost as if to himself. "She's cute even when I can't see her," he murmured, and I felt a blush bloom over my face.

"Hey, look, she's blushing!" Taehyung yelled. I had completely forgotten he was the one calling when I suddenly realized that the mysterious friend had uncovered his face, and was spotted.

"Wait, you're adorable, too," I told him without thinking. He froze when he noticed that I could see him now, and his eyes widened in surprise. I hid my face behind my fingers as I felt myself blushing even more furiously.

"No, wait, come back!" He said and quickly took Taehyung's phone from him before walking away. "Hey, wait, that's my phone!" Taehyung called out, but he didn't seem to pay much attention as he continued to walk away.

I watched him leave the room, entering into another room, tossing himself onto the bed. I could make out plushies decorating one length of the bed, while white walls surrounded him. "Cute room," I remarked, making him laugh. "Says the cuter one," he replied, smirking.

I couldn't help but be flustered this time. "Look at you, not acting shy now, Mr...?" My tone raised a little, in the hopes he'd finally give a name. He shook his head and laughed teasingly. "Why not I just tell you tomorrow instead, since I'll be seeing you tomorrow anyway?"

"You're coming?"

"Only if you want me to," He winked.

"Aren't you a flirt," I mused. He smiled, his face lighting up my screen. Then I heard Taehyung's voice filtering into my phone.

"Okay, wow, great. Can I please have my phone back now?"

His friend laughed. "Coming, coming." As he walked back to the door of his room, he gave a small wave, suddenly all shy again. "See you tomorrow?" he asked, a hint of hopeful anticipation in his voice.

I grinned. "I'll be waiting." The giggle on the other end was all it took for me to crumble internally. Honestly, why is he so cute?

As the call came to an end, I sighed, this time contentedly. I turned to look at my phone and noticed a flood of messages plastering my screen repeatedly. "Huh...?"

Hannah: Who's Taehyung?

Hannah: A guy?

Hannah: Did you just ditch me for a guy???

Hannah: Hello. 911. Yes, I'd like to report a kidnapping. Aliens abducted my best friend, and she's not responding to my messages.

Hannah: Okay, it seems like NO ONE wants to be my friend because 911 isn't responding either.
