CH1 : His return

NICOLE

It was another year at the South east high school and my last year I hung my head low and hid my face behind my hoodie as I walked into my own personal hell hole, as usual everyone was chatting about summer and not minding me as I walked quietly through the crowded corridors heading for my locker also praying that no one will notice me today or maybe even this year but seeing as I'm the most unlucky person on earth as I approached my locker I came face to face with my worst nemesis 'JULIO' he was leaning on the locker opposite mine with his latest girlfriend in his arms who was non other than my once girl best friend Anne, she had her hands on his chest as they practically sucked each others faces off.

I turned my back to them and opened my locker shoving my school bag in and grabbing the books necessary for my classes today and turned to make my way to homeroom but was stopped by his voice the voice that used to whisper sweet things in my ear all those years ago but now all they had for me was insults.

"where are you running off to Nicole not even a simple how was your summer for your sweet Julio" he said catching a few peoples attention, I turned around to come face to face with a smirking Julio before putting my head down and waiting for him to get it over with so I could go

"I have news for you sweet heart I heard something interesting yesterday and I think you will want to hear it" he said looking down at me I could already feel Anne's murderous glare on me and by now almost the whole school was gathered

"aren't you gonna ask me what it is?" he asked "what?" I asked in a small voice not wanting him to cause a scene from my lack of response

"I heard your long gone boyfriend is back in town and is going to be coming to this school" he said "who?" I asked genuinely curious "Seth" he spat with so much venom and I heard a collective gasp from the crowd as I looked up at him with wide eyes from the corner of my eyes I saw Anne's eyes grow wide as saucers I guess she didn't expect her all time crush to come back after all these years.

Throughout the class all I could think about was Seth, he was back and a thousand questions were running through my head like

'how is he'

"why not go check and see for your self after all his house is about five minutes walk from yours"

'will he recognize me'

"of course he will you say it like he's been gone for sixty years"

'will we still be friends or more'

"well he kind of kissed you last time you saw each other but lets say he was just drunk off his ass "

'will all the bullying stop now that he's back'

"yes Seth would never let anyone touch you"

'what will happen to Anne'

"well bitch lost her chance the moment she started dating that dick head"

'will he be the same'

"that I don't know"

Soon it was time for lunch and I was sat at my usual table in the noisy cafeteria which was now more noisy due to news of Seth's return since the announcement earlier it's all everyone has been talking about and a few of Seth's fans even came up to me to make small conversations but I just gave all of them a cold shoulder.

I had promised my self that I wouldn't let anyone use me to get to those I love it's all anyone has ever done to me

Julio used me to get into the soccer team seeing as my brother was captain at the time

Anne used me to get to her crush who happened to be my best friend Seth

Becky ( head cheer leader of Tyson's set) used me to get my brother's dick

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice someone sit in front of me until the person spoke "what can a moron like you be thinking about, I thought moron's didn't have brains at least not enough to think" Anne said from her seat opposite me

"what do you want" I asked "I came to warn you, when Seth comes I don't want him to know anything about Julio and I's relationship or what has been happening to you since he was gone" she said looking at her nails

"also I know you are going to visit him since you're a stalker but I'll go with you either way to make sure you are nowhere near what is mine" she added and I wanted to reply her but she just silenced me by raising her hand

"lastly stay away from Seth he's mine and I don't need your third wheeling ass in my relationship with him but if we ever need a maid or servant girl in future I'll be sure to call you, understand?" she asked waiting for a reply but instead I just burst out laughing at her insanity and watching her face go red with anger wasn't helping the situation

"what...made...you...think...I'll...listen...to...you" I said between laughs as I watched her face go redder if that was possible unfortunately for her, her lapdog was in soccer practice which boosted my confidence

"let's clear somethings up here, this is not you bullying me and me being too weak to retaliate. This is me being the bigger person allowing you to throw you temper tantrums so you can get through the day having something to reassure and remind you why you think you're better than me, I honestly expected you to grow up this year cause you're an adult now but you just proved to me how fucking under developed you're brain is, if you think I'm a moron then the word to describe you're lack of common sense will probably be invented when humans start chasing their asses round in circles, I would have just called you a bitch but I respect female dogs way too much to bring them down to your level." I said calmly before waking away from her when I got to the door I turned back and said "by the way I'm going to do the opposite of every fucking thing you just said"

I got through my classes peacefully save for the occasional pointing and gossips whenever I walked into a new period by the end of the day the news of me and Anne's fight had travelled everywhere and most people were shocked about my outburst but Julio didn't take it lightly seeing as he dumped Anne.

After school was over I walked over to my car and drove down to the only place I wanted to be now 'The Carter mansion'

I was once again in front of the Carter family mansion after all this years, I looked up at the mansion and noted that unlike before it now looked less creepy and now looked like people inhabited it, walking over to the door I knocked twice and waited, I was about to knock again when the door was pulled open by non other than Rose Carter, Seth's mother

They must still be trying to settle in cause ever since I've known this family she and her husband were never at home

"Nicole it's so nice of you to drop by, it's been a while I can hardly recognize you" Mrs Carter said as she led me into the mansion

"I just heard that you guys moved back and I wanted to check on Seth, it's been years" I said and couldn't help but notice the sad look on her face at the mention of her son's name

"Is everything okay Mrs Carter?" I asked worried something had happened to Seth "Seth isn't home at the moment you can come back later or you'll see him in school" she said with a small smile which I returned

"no problem I'll be on my way then" I said and made my way to the door and honestly I wasn't prepared for what came next

The front door burst open and Seth came stumbling in looking like a lost puppy he held his car keys in one hand and his jacket in the other, his pupils were dilated indicating he was high and when he saw me he grinned and slurred "Nicole..." and I knew his return would turn my life upside down.
