Tessa's POV

When Saturday evening rolls around, I find myself walking arm in arm with Gabi and Hanna towards the only half decent club in the area. I can see the Chin Tiki sign lit up above us and the long line of people already waiting to get inside.

Girls night has sort of become a tradition in the past few months since I've moved here. Well, it's always been Hanna and Gabi's thing‐ the two being friends since childhood and all- but now that I've joined their group, it's our thing. We've gone together four or five times now. Just drinking and dancing and hanging out. Cutting loose after a week of taking care of little humans - or in Hanna's case, hungry customers- all day. It's a lot of fun.

I've been so lucky to have them in my life since moving to Detroit. They've been nothing but amazing friends to me and so accepting when they didn't have to be. But it was like I was the missing piece to their puzzle or something, and I fit right in. And honestly, without them I'd probably never have left my apartment.

These nights are also an excuse to dress up a little, all of us getting together at Hanna's place before hand to get ready. Tonight I wore my favorite dark wash jeans and a low cut red top, pairing it with my heeled black boots. I opt to leave my blonde hair down and straight and my makeup minimal–keeping my whole club look a little more casual compared to the other girls but that's how I like it. Gabi let's me borrow her gold hoop earrings too, finishing off the look.

Hanna is the flirt of our group, with her long legs and amazing body, she's a born model and always has the men drooling at her feet. She wears her dark hair in a high pony tail and is able to make her little navy blue dress she got off the clearance rack look like its fresh off the runway. Gabi is a natural beauty as well and the shortest. With the short title always comes a little crazy, but otherwise she's an amazing person. Her brown hair, curled by me, is pinned up for even better exposure of her neck as she wears an off the shoulder top and black leather skirt.

Gabi, who is now walking ahead, goes straight towards the bouncer she just spotted and we follow her. As we bypass the line, Hanna and I are laughing the whole way over a story she told about a guy she went out with who was into some kinky stuff.

"Did he really ask you to do that?" I ask Hanna, shocked, as Gabi continues to flirt with the bouncer she's been talking about all week.

"Yes! To him!" She says, disgusted. I throw my head back laughing even more, my stomach hurting.

Gabi shoots me a look, eyes wide, as if to say 'please cut it out'.

I pull myself together, letting out a few quiet giggles as I watch her turn back to her bouncer with a flirty smile. I can understand why she likes him, he's handsome enough, in that strong and intimidating kind of way. Even under a jacket, I can tell he has huge muscles, and his bald head and tattoos might scare some off but not her. Because he's very sweet on Gabi. He's just a bit too chiseled, I think, making myself smile.

Physical attraction is important to me, sure. A nice smile, cute face, sexy body. But more than that he'd need to be caring and smart. Good with kids. A good listener but articulate. Funny- a guy who can make me laugh wins major points. If I could find a man like that, I'd be beyond happy.

New York, had no such man for me. And though I haven't exactly been looking, there isn't a man like that in Detroit so far either. I'm beginning to think this ideal man I've concocted in my head doesn't exist.

As Hanna smokes a cigarette, I listen to Gabi talk to the bouncer about his muscles and he responds with how beautiful she looks. I could gag. They're cute and I'm happy she's happy, honestly. But I really wish they'd just hurry this up and he'd let us in.
