Chapter 9: Are you scared of me?

— Gundham's POV —

Turning and tossing in my sleep, I was dreaming yet mind my brain filled with activity. This activity bring my very own dream. Normally, my dreams are simple, after practicing with my dark magic I have gained the ability to lucid dream. I'd dream about taking wild beasts, furthering my skills even while unconscious. However, this night was different, instead of the tamed, normal dream, this one was truly a nightmare.

       Everything was blurred in this nightmare, not just in vision, blood smeared the walls and floors. My ears rang with thunderous roars and screeches surrounding me. After I could fully focus, I began to realize what disaster was falling right before my eyes. Lions, wolves, raging elephants, and other powerful beings commanded to kill. People being trampled, stomped, and clawed while trying to run for their lives. I tried to stop them, calm them, tame them, anything to save them and these poor people. But I couldn't move, I was stuck, but then I realized, I'm the one controlling them.

My eyes flew open, patting myself making sure I was out of that fearful nightmare. Turning my head, I glanced over at the window, it was still a bit dark out, but the sun is going to rise soon. The clock confirmed my guess because it was about to be 6 AM. Everyone will be waking up in an hour, I might as well get ready for when we all meet in the restaurant. I check on my four dark devas of destruction, they're all cuddled together in their wood-chip nest sleeping. Walking to the bathroom, I decided to freshen myself up. Using all that I have, I cleaned myself. Combing my hair up (into a Jimmy Neutron ice cream swirl), styling my scarf and jacket. I avoided using any of the things in the bathroom, this room was Sonia's after all. However, I wouldn't need to use most of these things anyway, mainly because I have no idea what these type of dark magic items are. After tidying myself up to look presentable, even though the years of coma have definitely taken a toll to me, I still somewhat resemble the person I remember looking like. Immediately after stepping outside the restroom, there was a gentle knock coming from the door. It must've been Sonia, she did want to go to the restaurant together. After opening that door, my assumption was correct and there she was.

       "Good morning Gundham," she greeted, putting her hands together, she wasn't in that silky-green nightgown anymore, but rather her normal day clothes.

       "You are," I glance back at the clock, "minutes early, Dark Queen, why is that?"

       "Well it's a Novoselic custom, Gundham! To always be 13 minutes early!" Sonia informed, her country was a true passion of hers, ask her one question and she'll give you the answer and a million reasons why.

       "Heh, perhaps your kingdom can ally with mine located in the Deep Underworld!" I offered.

       "Yes! I definitely see our two kingdoms forming an alliance, with that power we'd be unstoppable!" Sonia's eyes gleamed when talking about the offering.

       "Besides that matter, we are still too early to leave for the restaurant. as you were 13 minutes early for meeting, plus another 13 minutes before leaving to the restaurant" I told her, she really does take customs seriously.

       "That is correct, but maybe we can take this time to talk, how was your first night back?" Sonia asked, all of her attention was on me.

       "The first night, it was..." My mind had started to wonder, I remembered the tea spilling, the cleaning, and sweet scents right before falling asleep, all of that a wholesome feeling to all of it. But when I had finally fallen asleep, my night had turned sour. Thinking about the dream puts a lump in my throat, I've never had a dream so gruesome as that. But it would take too long to explain, I'd already been standing silently for a while.

       "Gundham...?" Sonia slowly waved her hand over my face.

       "Oh! My night? It was good, my night was good" I smiled awkwardly, if not for that dream, my night would've been perfect.

       "Hm," Sonia looked at me deep into thought, then back to normal, "Well, I am joyful that your night went good! Hopefully swapping rooms didn't do any harm!"

       "Oh no, no, I am glad that he had changed rooms! Now you can claim that Tanaka the Forbidden one had slept in this very room!" I chanted, I really am happy that we switched rooms, no other bed had put me directly to sleep.

       "I'll have to boast it to everyone when we get to the restaurant then," Sonia giggled, her hand on her cheek. Her smile had disappeared though, "How do you think it'll go when everyone meets at the restaurant again?" Sonia asked, this was a serious question. We had all been fearful of each other from that murder game, so everyone has a right to be scared to meet again. Especially to the people who killed.

       "I do not know, are you nervous?" I questioned, even I'll admit it, I am a little nervous.

       "Well, yes, I am nervous. Nervous from how everyone will react to each other" Sonia stared down at the ground, looking at our shoes.

       "Who do you think will be the ones who react? How do you think they will react?" I questioned, trying to sound as gentle as I can.

       "Don't take this the wrong way, but, I'm predicting the ones who had be killed will be scared of their killer." She turned her head away, now staring at the wall. Is she avoiding me? Could it be what I did to Nekomaru? Is she scared of me...?

       "Are-" I caught a lump in my throat, but I gulped it down. I must ask this question, "Are you scared of me?"

       Sonia turned back, looking directly at me. Her brow furrowed slightly, "Gundham, I am not scared of you. It's the opposite, if I were scared of you I would not be in this room right now." Oh no, now I just hope Sonia isn't mad at me. "It would be impossible for me to." Her snapped voice now into a slower, gentle tone.

       "I am delighted to hear this, then our two kingdoms will be powerful together, without fear or hatred to each other! I and my dark underworld beasts made a tremendous choice by allying with your kingdom, Sonia Nevermind." After saying this, a great smile formed on Sonia's face, the one that pairs perfectly with her. Sonia took a quick look at the clock, her eyes widened.

       "Oh! Look at the time! We gotta head to the restaurant now in order to be early!" She gave my shoulder a quick pat and off we went. Heading to the restaurant, together.
