Jackson

"Oh fuck fuck fuck fuck!!" I groan as I hold Rosie's hand and run towards anything that can act as a potential shelter from this ludicrous rain.

"I told you a thousand fucking times we will take my bike. But no! You had to take a stroll in this fucked up weather."

"Oh come on, Jackson. I didn't know it was gonna rain this heavily. But just look at the weather, it's so romantic." She says dreamily.

"My ass it's romantic. I'm gonna freeze to death, it's so fucking c-cold." I rub my hands for warmth.

"Ugh, will you stop whining like a baby if I gave you my jacket?" She proceeds to remove her jacket.

"Fuck no. You're gonna fall sick-
Put it back on Rosie!" I force her hands through the arms of the jacket before zipping it up to her neck.

"But you're gonna be cold." She murmurs sadly.

"That's fine. Nothing I can't handle." I mumble as I lean against the tree and sit down. Rosie, however, finds home in my lap. I wrap my arms around her and pull her closer to me.

"Jesus, baby you're shivering." She quickly removes the jacket before putting it over my shoulders.

"Rosie no-"

"You keep the jacket, and then wrap your arms around me, that way we are both warm." She beams. I hesitantly concede that it was a good idea and do what was told.

"This is so nice." She hums.

"This is horrible." I run my nose along the length of her neck.

"Oh, you're just unromantic. You should learn to appreciate nature. Look at the weather, it's so calm and serene and-"

A loud belligerent thunder strikes across the sky.

"OH, GOD!" Rosie screams before pushing herself further into my chest. I stifle my laughter before gently stroking her head.

"What about being romantic huh? Come on let's appreciate the weather together." I tantalise.

"This is not the time for jokes, Jackson! You know I'm petrified of thunder." Her voice cracks.

"Hey hey I'm just kidding. There's no need to be afraid, baby. I'm right here, nothing is gonna happen to you."

Another thunder strikes.

"Oh no.....I shouldn't have forced us to walk! This is all my fault. Stupid Rosie!" She slaps her forehead.

"Relax baby. How about I cover your ears for you, hmm? That way it won't bother you much." I push the side of her face against my chest so that her ear is completely covered. I cover the other ear with my hand and pull her incredibly closer to my body.

"Better?" I ask but get no response in return. That's how I know that my baby is now as deaf as a deaf person could be. I smile at her docile form and kiss the crown of her head.

I wish I would be by her side every time she experiences thunderous rain.

I toss my phone away and get back to work just before I hear a loud crash.

"What the fuck!" Clifton shrieks as his eyes pop out of their sockets and his ears turn into a tinge of angry red. I look towards his line of sight and nearly collapse at the view. The vintage dining table that Clifton and I were working our ass off, lies in a heap of obliterated wood. The legs are detached, the table itself is broken into two giant halves, and in the midst of all this lies a flabbergasted Chloe.
