During the five years I've spent with Atlas Knight, I found that in as much as he was an impressive man when it came to executing his job, he was also a very fussy man

He liked his file arranged in a particular type of way, his coffee made in a certain kind of way, his clothes in a particular type of way

Yes... I even sometimes went to his house to pack whenever he had to travel

I had made a lot of mistakes at the beginning and I had been scolded for it by Mr knight and I almost started hating him but in the long run I realized that all those corrections had become very beneficial to me

I was no longer the woman I was five years ago..

During the past five years, Mr Knight had exposed me to a different kind of life, and within that period, I had gone through rigorous training to make me better at my job

I who had never seen out of the borders of California, traveled all over the place with my boss

The experience had been a memorable one and the good news was I now had enough money saved and the stability to finally resign

Sadly it was finally time for me to resign, most people told me that I was one of the first people who could met up with the bosses needs apart from his family and I guess they were right since I had to endure a lot from some who was way too perfect at everything he does

Atlas's Knight only had one weakness and it was the rain... I had learnt about it in my second year on the job when we had been stuck outside the resort of a foreign hotel and it had started to rain.. he began to have a panic attack

That was one of the rare moments I say Mr knight as a human who also had weaknesses like the rest of us

Ever since then I always kept to date with the weather both internationally and locally and cleared his schedule when I knew it was going to rain

Soon I would no longer be incharge of any of those because I was finally leaving Knights and Co to start the simple life I had dreamed about

Mr knight had just come out of a meeting and after a while I decided that it was time to finally tell him about my resignation

I have been postponing telling him for about a week now because I didn't want to disappoint him... for five years he had been my mentor... Regardless of our age gap, I really looked up to him

Sighing I picked up a document and adjusted my skirt before walking the short distance to his door.

With a light knock, he permitted me to come in

"How was the meeting Mr knight?" I asked dropping the file on his desk

"Tiresome but effective" he answered smartly looking at me through his smart glasses

"Would you like me to prepare you a snack, you didn't get the chance to go for lunch" I asked.

He smiled politely at me "that won't be necessary, I will be leaving soon to have late lunch with mum" he said and I nodded my head and stood there quietly like a fool

How was I to tell him?

"Is there a problem Miss West" he asked me after he noticed that I hadn't said anything

I sighed taking out the envelope had been hiding behind my back and placed it on his table

I gave him time to look at the letters written on the envelope before saying

"I'm resigning Mr Knight" I said with an awkward smile

He looked at me in shock before smiling

"You are joking right?" He asked but when I remained quiet, the smile fell off his face

I felt so sorry... though he had been my boss for a very long time, I would lie to say that we had some kind of strange friendship and I was disappointing my friend

"I'm sorry Mr Knight" I managed to say

"B-but why? Do you need a salary increase? Is the workload too much?" He asked but I shook my head

"No... you pay me really well and I've learnt to deal with my workload" I answered

"Then why?" He asked looking somewhat sad

"I just finally want to do what I want to, to finally relax and settle down..find myself" I explained

"Then do you want a break? I can give you that" he persuaded but I shook my head once more

"You really want to leave" he stated and I nodded my head

He narrowed his eyes at the envelope before him and with a frown, " very well then, you however know you can't leave until after a month to train your replacement" he said coldly

I frowned at his sudden change of mood but nodded my head in understanding

"You may leave" he said picking up his pen and dismissing me

I walked away sadly..

I didn't know what I had been expecting but I certainly hadn't been expecting that
