____________
Author's POV

With his eyes closed and palms covering them, he could hear the giggling and rumbling coming from the other side of the door. He took a deep breath, huffed, and crossed his arms, standing in the doorway.

Before him stood his 3-years-younger brother Siddharth, his wife and college sweetheart Riddhi, who was 22 and fresh out of college, married just 6 months ago. Next to them was his baby sister Ritu, 20, standing beside his cousin Akash, also 20. Those two could fight anywhere, anytime, and for no reason at all. And, of course, there was his annoying best friend Aarav.

Siddharth peeked through his fingers, his left eye open, while the others kept their eyes covered, grinning like idiots.

"Huff... zone safe, guys. You can open your eyes," he said, and they all removed their hands.

He didn't say a word, but his raised eyebrow questioned them.

"What's up, guys? You didn't come down yet?" Nirmaan asked.

Siddharth dragged out the word, "So...?" Riddhi explained, "We thought we'd call you, and you didn't come, so we came up."

"Did you all come together?" he questioned, his eyebrow still raised.

Ritu spoke up, "No, we thought maybe you two were, you know... together."

Just as he was about to close the door, they all barged in. "C'mon, bro, we came to meet bhabi, didn't we?" Aarav asked, seeking confirmation from the others.

The chorus of "Yeah... yeah..." followed.

"So, bhabi, what's on the menu for today? You know I've been starving, just waiting to taste your cooking," Akash said, putting his arm around his bhabi.

Just then, Ritu smacked him on the head with full force. "Liar! You ate like a pig at the wedding, and now you're saying you haven't eaten anything!"

Akash whined, "What, bro? You always save her!" Ritu shot back, "Of course, he will. I'm his one and only sister, not like you, whom they picked up from the temple!"

Nirmaan intervened, "Okay, that's enough. Out, everyone!"

The group reluctantly filed out, still arguing and complaining.

Meanwhile, Subí couldn't help but chuckle at their silly antics, which reminded her of her own home. She was eager to meet them.

Nirmaan took the Sindoor box from her hand and placed it on the bedside table. He intertwined their fingers, asking "Chalein?" (Shall we?), to which she nodded her head in agreement.

As they came out of the room, Nirmaan didn't let go of her hand until they reached the dining area, where she quickly pulled it away, overwhelmed by the gathering of people.

Subí hastily made her way to the kitchen, where Nirmaan watched her with amusement, thinking to himself, "If you'll just keep blushing, how will we progress, BiWI?" (If you'll just keep blushing, how will we move forward, my wife?)

In the kitchen, Subí was surrounded by the other ladies, who were preparing for her. She went to her mother-in-law and took her blessings. Both her mother-in-law and her younger mother-in-law patted her cheeks with a smile, while Riddhi and Ritu hugged her, wishing her a good morning.

Her mother-in-law asked, "So, what will you make for your first cooking attempt?" Subí's face lit up, as she loved cooking, especially sweet dishes.

"I'll make Halwa, Maa. You know how everyone at home loves my Halwa, especially Bade Papa," Subí said enthusiastically. Her mother-in-law and younger mother-in-law chuckled at her eagerness. "Okay, we'll help you with the rest," her mother-in-law said, but Subí didn't listen. "No, Maa, you all go. I'll do everything myself," she said, but her mother-in-law was saying, "But how will you manage all this alone?" However, they eventually left her to it.
