AN: hey guys, here's some of Laurie's POVs of pivotal moments.

Mackenzie's Interview

"Hello?"

"Hi, I'm calling to speak to Ms. Mackenzie Williams." I grinned to myself, pleased.

"Hello, Ms. Montague."

"Well," I drawled. "I'm calling to say that I've thought it over...and I would love to extend a final employment offer."

"Are you going to be this insufferable?" Mackenzie deadpanned.

I released a raspy chuckle. "Mm, darling. I'll probably be worse."

My heart skipped a beat while awaiting her response.

"I accept."

Fireworks exploded in my chest but I restrained my excitement. "Amazing. I will text you the details, doll."

I tossed my cellphone to the plush chair across from me and sank into the settee, a smile plastered on my face. Hummingbirds nested in my chest, butterflies migrated from between my thighs to the center of my stomach. The woman was a beautiful specimen, for certain.

Those enchanting brown eyes looking over her glasses almost made my knees give out. I could get lost in their waves of ecstasy, fanatically so. But what really caught my attention was her reactions to my presence. Her rosy cheeks, lip biting, breath-hitching--- the trembling when I touched or approached her. Were this a social call, I would have attempted to take her then and there.

"She is smart," I murmured aloud. "Smart, well-liked, takes no shit. And...a perfect view."

Yes, this was a wise decision.

Mackenzie's First Day

The weekend was finally approaching its end. I fiddled with my phone, bored. Searching through my contacts for someone to fill the noiseless void of my flat, my eyes landed on Mackenzie's contact information. I grinned and hit 'call'.

She answered almost immediately. "Oh, I was just thinking about you."

A shiver traveled down my spine but I played it cool. "I tend to leave a lasting impression."

"What can I do for you, Ms. Montague?" Mackenzie's tone was the verbal rendition of someone rolling their eyes.

"Just reminding you that your official first day is tomorrow. I'll be at the office around 7:30, but please do not feel compelled to be there until 8:30 or 9."

"How sweet of you," she muttered.

Beguiled and amused, I shot back: "Do you speak to all of your supervisors this way?"

"No, just you, ma'am." Of course.

"See you tomorrow, Ms. Williams."

The line went dead. I blinked rapidly, cutting a downwards glance at my phone and checking for service. Confusion fused with intrigue as I realized that Mackenzie Williams, my new personal assistant, just hung up on me.

Why do you even care, Laurie?  J'en ai marre. My thoughts were bitter and brutal as I power-walked towards the office. My morning, thus far, had been plagued with multiple wardrobe changes and makeup wipes. Nothing I did smoothed the anxiety of my appearance.

I burst through the building doors and saw the elevator just about to close. "Ah! Hold the elevator! Please!"

A pale arm thrust out of the elevator, halting the closure and causing the doors to slowly re-open. Said arm was attached to a shoulder, which was attached to a deliciously dressed body, which belonged to none other than Mackenzie Williams.
