"A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words"

Take a picture,
Of anything,
A smiling sister,
A panting dog,
It's easy,
Capturing learned smiles,
Capturing pretested behavior,
It's,
all,
so,
easy,
Now take a good picture,
Of something that makes you feel,
Rain falling,
The calm and rage of the sea,
Now that's harder,
Finding the emotions,
Finding the truth,
Finding the reality behind something,
Is the hard part,
Anyone can raise a camera,
And look through the lens,
And tell there subject to smile,
Yet, only some can raise a camera,
And look through a lens,
And capture pure happiness,
Or pure tragedy,
Or pure beauty,
Not that any of those things are as simple or as pure as a picture can make them out to be,
And these people don't yell smile,
Like the façade of happiness, this provides,
Will suffice as a decent picture,
These people make the lens of a camera an extension of them themselves,
You never have to ask an author definition of beauty,
When you have there books sitting right in front of you,
Just as you never have to ask a photographer their definition of elegance,
When you have there snapshots sitting in front of you,
Photographers,
Like painters or authors,
They are artist,
I talk about them like they are some sort of rare species,
Then again,
Depending on the way you look at it,
They kind of are.
