As the evening approached, I eagerly prepared myself for the upcoming date. Yes, I had a date!

My companion had specifically requested a casual attire and asked me to bring Scout along. With those instructions in mind, I carefully chose a charming blue button-up sundress that perfectly accentuated my style. I added a delicate necklace around my neck, which added a touch of elegance to the ensemble. Gently strapping on my watch and slipping into comfortable sandals, I felt a surge of confidence.

Once I finished getting ready, I reached for Scout's leash and effortlessly attached it to his collar.

As the elevator doors opened, Scout and I stepped into the bustling lobby. Immediately, my eyes were drawn to a sleek Mercedes GLA parked in front of the entrance. The window gracefully rolled down, revealing Kayden, my date, sitting inside. My heart skipped a beat at the sight of him.

Yes, I had agreed to go on a date with Kayden. However, I made it clear to him the night before that I wanted to take things slow. To my relief, he respected my wishes and agreed to proceed at a comfortable pace. Tonight marked the beginning of our first official date, and Kayden had promised to surprise me with the location.

Anticipation filled the air as I eagerly awaited the adventure that lay ahead, curious and excited to discover where Kayden would take us.

"Hey," I greeted Kayden with a gentle kiss on his cheek as I settled into the cozy car seat. Scout, my loyal companion, occupied the backseat, ready for the journey ahead.

"Well, that's a promising start to the date," Kayden remarked with a wide grin, eliciting a soft laugh from me. "Are you going to tell e where we're going now?" I inquired playfully, eager to know where our evening would unfold.

With a playful shake of his head, Kayden responded, "Nope, just wait and watch." The anticipation grew as we embarked on the drive, engaging in joyful conversation and jamming to our favorite tunes.

At one point during the drive, curiosity got the better of me, and I posed a question, "I've been wondering... were the songs you played somehow related to us or me?" Kayden glanced at me momentarily before returning his attention to the road, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. He nodded, confirming that I had indeed noticed the connection.

"Yeah, they were," he replied softly, meeting my gaze. "Each song either reflects your incredible strength, conveys how much I miss you, or explores the possibilities of what we could have been..." The words hung in the air, expressing the emotions that had lingered between us, unspoken, but now finding their voice.

As I gazed out of the car window, lost in my own thoughts, I couldn't help but contemplate what might have been if our relationship hadn't ended four years ago. A bittersweet nostalgia washed over me, imagining a parallel reality where Kayden and I had remained together.
