he shook his head and chuckled silently at the thought of his neighbours cat.

friend: i talked to him when i sat outside on the back porch. he was laying next to me, his tiny head on my leg, and he stayed like that until i was done.

he took a long pause, closing his bloodshut eyes for a moment. his face turned into a deep frown, his lips in a tight line.

friend: what am i doing? talking to animals and someone who doesn't reply back? it's like i'm talking to myself.

he stoop up and walked away from the boy who was still laying in the hospital bed.
