The 4th of July in Cousins is all about traditions. Susannah decks out the whole house, the dads come up for the weekend, the boys steam clams and shoot off fireworks. All the other 4th of July's, Belly and I were just tagging along. But this year, we have friends. I have plans. We were all sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast. My date with Matt had been a week ago and things were going really well with him, I had actually invited him to come today. I tried burying my feelings for Jeremiah deep down but they somehow always seemed to resurface when I hang out with him or when he shows me any signs of affection. "Can I finish your milk?" He asks me, gesturing to the bowl of milk that was left after I had eaten up all of my cereal.
"Here." I say giving him my bowl.
"Mm." He moans literally slurping up the milk. For some weird reason he has a habit of drinking up everyone's left over milk.
"Yo, I'm gonna go wash the clams. Did you get the lighter fluid?" Conrad asks Jeremiah.
