It felt like yesterday.

Ash started off his journey, and was still a novice. Back then he wasn't even aware of the fundamentals of a Pokémon trainer and how to train his Pokémon. He was young, inexperienced, naive, arrogant, overconfident and certainly not prepared.

This led to him facing many challenges. More than what most normal trainers faced.

One of them was his battle against the former gym leader of the Vermilion City. It was one of the toughest battles Ash ever had. In their first battle, his Pikachu was completely crushed, alongside his confidence.

Fortunately with the advice of his old pal Brock, Ash was able to turn around the ties of the battle the second time he fought Lt.Surge. However, it remained a fact that his battle with Surge was a pivotal one for his development as a Pokémon Trainer.

"What are you doing here, Surge?" Ash asked the Vermilion City gym leader in confusion.

"What do you expect, brat? I was investigating why Lugia out of all things suddenly appeared in the Vermilion Port out of nowhere. It's my job as the Gym Leader or should I say, atleast used to be." Lt.Surge replied. Ash looked at him with confusion before his eyes widened in realisation, remembering what the reporters stated this morning.

"Oh right, you recently became a member of the Elite Four, right.....? Congratulations!"

At this point, Goh just felt like the third wheel. Being present there for just because he was there. However, he started to get curious on who the raven-haired boy actually was. Seeing how Elite Four Surge is taking to him so casually was a curious case.

"Ahahahaha! I appreciate it, brat. Me and my electric type Pokemons are stronger than ever before, and so are you and your Pikachu too....." Lt.Surge laughed. At the mention of Pikachu, he remembered his partner's condition. It was still unconscious in his arms.

"Surge, I need to take Pikachu and my other Pokemon to the Pokemon Center. Can you help us! " Ash requested.

Hearing Ash's request, Lt.Surge sighed." I can do it, but I don't think it is a good idea."

"Why is that?"

"You see, I have just made my way from the Pokemon Center, and to my surprise, it's completely full. Many trainers are waiting to heal their Pokemons for hours." Lt.Surge replied with a sigh, remembering how crowded the Pokemon Center was.

Ash looked worried. Even though none of his Pokemons were in a life-threatening condition, getting immediate medical attention was still necessary.

Just then, Surge noticed Goh. With an intense look plastered on his face, he asked Goh."You there?"

"Y-Yes, s-sir?" Goh asked, stitching in fear at the sight of Kanto's newest Elite Four looking at him dead in the eyes.
