In shadows cast by friendships past,

A tale of trust that didn't last,

Once close as kin, a bond now broken,

In words unspoken, wounds reopen.

A friend once held, now lost in pride,

A rift that's grown too deep to hide,

Betrayal's sting, a bitter taste,

Memories tarnished, love laid to waste.

Through days of laughter, nights of tears,

We faced our fears, conquered our spheres,

But time unveiled a darker side,

A heart that hid behind a guise.

Questions linger, doubts arise,

Why would she seek to compromise?

A puzzle piece that doesn't fit,

Her motives masked, a tangled knit.

I reached out, seeking reasons why,

But met with words that made me sigh,

Rudeness cloaked in bitter air,

A friendship's end, an icy stare.

She played a role, a part untrue,

Not only me, but also you,

Betrayed another, just the same,

Leaving scars, a lasting flame.

Yet through the hurt, a truth takes form,

A lesson learned in friendship's storm,

To cherish those who stand with grace,

And let go of those who leave no trace.

In paths anew, we'll find our way,

 Healing hearts, come what may,

For in the depths of friendships lost,

We learn to mend, to count the cost.

In the aftermath of love's demise,

I watched as you wore your new disguise,

Still chatting with the one I left behind,

A question formed, but courage hard to find.

"Why?" I wondered, heart in hand,

Why lend an ear to one who couldn't understand?

But silence fell, your gaze askew,

Rudeness masked the truth I thought I knew.

A triangle of friendship, torn apart,

By secrets shared, a poison's start,

You turned your back on loyalty's call,

Choosing alliances that caused us all to fall.

Yet I'll not wallow in bitter sorrow,

For in pain's wake, a stronger heart can borrow,

Lessons learned in the fires of deceit,

A chance to rise, from pain retreat.

Toxic bonds severed, wounds laid bare,

I'll rebuild and find those who truly care,

In the tapestry of life, threads will mend,

And from this brokenness, my heart will ascend.

So here's my ode to you, ex-best friend so cold,

For the tale you've woven, truth be told,

You betrayed and hurt, but I'll rise above,

Stronger for the wounds, and still capable of love.

I just never thought you would put a knife,

Behind my back with me being so clueless,

You broke my trust and made me hate you,

You acted so innocent asking what is wrong.
