"What do you think of that strategy, Roscoe?"

"Lewis, debrief in 10," Toto said as he walked into the Mercedes garage. The Englishman nodded, acknowledging what he had heard.

After a tough qualifying, he knew what he had to go through. But the only thing he wanted right now was to go home to his girlfriend and hold her until he fell asleep.

He checked his phone again; wanting- no, needing to see a message from her.

But the message never came. So, he took another deep inhale with his eyes closed and a deep exhale.

He walked into the debriefing room, greeting everyone there until he got to his seat.

Instead of an empty seat, there sat his buddy Roscoe on his chair, panting in the warm air, his collar carrying something.

He greeted his friend and removed the roll of paper. Lewis unrolled it and smiled when he saw the message.

It was his girlfriend, sending him all her love and telling him that he should text her as soon as the debriefing finished so that she could prepare the surprise for him.

He smiled. It was enough motivation to go through the rest of the day with energy.

He sat next to Roscoe and talked to the engineers, the strategists, and lots of others.

"Lewis, we think that this strategy would fit your race best- it's best for the car, and still fast enough to work towards a win," one of the engineers said as they reviewed his Quali.

Lewis looked at the screen and nodded: "I agree, it would work better than the one we had planned for before."

Then he looked down at his buddy: "What do you think of that strategy, Roscoe?"

The team smiled at the dog who simply continued to pant though he seemed happier now that he had gotten Lewis' attention.

"Good boy," Lewis smiled, patting his dog's head.

He checked his phone again and saw a couple of messages from his girlfriend. It made him even happier.

The day had taken a turn for the better.

And he was grateful for it.
