𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐈𝐃𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐃 always been skeptical with the concept of 'love at first sight', but now look at where it has led him to. The sea god himself found it preposterous that he had willingly gifted someone something, never mind out of love.

The lord of the seas had ingeniously devised a plan to include a poetic note (an idea given to him by his nephew, Hermes) and an indication of where the gift 'originally' came from. The sea god personally found the idea absurd as he was not one who specialised in romantic poetry.

Nevertheless, a few days had passed and he had finally finished crafting the where about to be somewhere on land (which was the final part of the note) so that she would not get suspicious. The poem was what took most of his time—much to his execration. Poseidon had also chose to keep his name anonymous as he didn't want to reveal himself too soon. This way, if she was intrigued, she would have the option to respond.

Y/n had just finished her various chores of helping out around Valhalla and was feeling quite fatigued. This was until she stumbled upon a small gift resting on her doorstep.

Soon after discovering the gift, the fascinated woman picked up the gift and examined it.

The small gift appeared to be neatly wrapped in a pale turquoise paper with a delicate bow on top. It was about a size of a shoe box and felt light in her hands. The wrapping paper was decorated with charming gold-coloured patterns, adding a touch of whimsy to the gift.

"Is this...for me..?"

The bewildered goddess then noticed a small post-it note sized paper stuck to the side of the present. Curious, she carefully removed the not from the gift as her eyes skimmed through the writing. It had appeared to be a love poem and the senders address at the bottom of the letter.

"Someone must have left this here by mistake" the goddess couldn't seem to recognise the address. Y/n shook her head before checking both sides of the paper, it seemed to have no name of either the sender or the receiver.

Considering her options, the goddess concluded that the most rational course of action would be to return the gift to its original place of origin as the did not fancy risking opening someone else's gift.

"My king.." the servant knelt before the throne, displaying the returned gift he had found on the location allocated by Poseidon on land, to the bad-tempered king in his hands.

The sea god was taken aback. Out of all the possible scenarios, this was one he'd least expect to happen. In fact, he didn't even consider that as a possibility.

"What does this signify? Was this not to her likings?" Poseidon questioned himself as he stood up glaring at Proteus. In a swift and decisive motion, the god impaled his trident through the gift that his servant was holding and forcefully casted the punctured item to the opposite end of the room.

The force of the impact left an indentation on the wall, Proteus hesitantly lifted his gazed from the ground as he redirected it towards the now destroyed gift.

"Clean the mess" was all what Poseidon commanded before storming away.

"That imbecile Hermes.. he'd set me up. Now I've made a fool of myself and my reputation!" The sea lord struggled to maintain coherence in his thoughts as they wandered into various places, overthinking everything. In his eyes, this couldn't have gone any worst.

"That is it, this leaves me no choice but to device my own strategy."

And with that, Poseidon made the final decision to delve deeper into his investigation to uncover her preferences.
