who am i

who am i?
where am i going?
who will i be?
what if there is no me?
if i fade away
remembering the days
that i lived
that i loved
who am i?

beaten like a dog in the hail
longing for a place
where i feel that sense of belonging again
it's somewhere
in my memory
who was i supposed to be?
there's a fire in my mind
there's a sadness in my eyes
who am i?

if i knew
maybe i would've told you
reaching for you
looking in the mirror
water dripping from the faucet
still
it's slipping through my fingers
if i was still there
if the pads of my fingers didn't bleed
if my vocal chords weren't raw from screaming
if my eyes weren't bloodshot from crying
flowers bloom where my shadows loom
i'm not sure
are you?
a turned back
walking away
sitting and watching
waiting and aching
was that the last time your eyes met with mine?
