In Tolkien's tales, his heart did find
A refuge from the world unkind
But in love's realm, he swiftly strayed
Leaving memories to slowly fade

Yet in the quiet of the night
When stars cast shadows soft and light
I'll cherish moments, brief but true
And bid farewell to what we knew

For in the end, though love may wane
