Secret Valentine

Farkle's POV:

Walking over to my locker I huff as I rub the sleep from my eyes

Don't get me wrong, I love school, but its still early in the morning

I feel a tap on my shoulder interrupting my yawn, and I turn to see Maya standing behind me

I yelp and clear my throat trying to cover the girly sound

Maya smirks amused by the action but says nothing nonetheless

"H-hey maya w-what are you doing here....?" I stutter

"Well I-" she starts but gets cut off when Riley and Lucas walk over smiling

"Hey guys!" they greet simultaneously

I nod smiling and look back at maya

"What were you going to say...?" I ask wanting to finish the conversation

She waved her hand off to dismiss it, but i couldn't help but notice the hope in her eyes diminish

I was going to question her about that but RIley began talking "Since today is valentines day I was thinking that all of us could go out to a dinner....?"

I was going to answer but maya cut me off looking me straight in the eye "Umm, actually Riles, I am kind of busy....."

We all look at her with eyebrows raised

"You? Busy? On valentines day?" Lucas asks sounding amused by her lame excuse

"Y-yeah..." she mutters fixing her backpack strap trying to look down

"You got a valentine?!?!" Riley asks squealing

We all winced at her sudden volume and waited for maya's answer

She shrugged

I felt my heart begin to thump in my chest

She liked someone....?

My heart clenched at the thought

I've liked her for so many years and the thought of her actually not liking me hasn't struck me before until today....

"Y-you're going somewhere with someone...?" I ask nervously trying to seem calm

She sighs and says "I hope so...."

My heart deflated at her answer

I guess I would be alone this year......

Riley and Lucas first, then Maya......

Sighing I turn around and open my locker

Right as I opened it a pink envelope fell out

Scrunching up my eyebrows I pick it up and turn to my friends

Riley and Lucas had confusion written on their face, while Maya had a blank one

"What's this....?" i ask myself

"oOoOoOhhh Farkle......I didn't know you had a valentine...." Riley teases

I chuckle "I didn't either....."

I flip it to the front to see a kiss mark in the middle, subconsciously smiling I open the envelope

When I open it I could smell a distinct yet faint smell of a combination of strawberries and roses

I don't know how they did that, but it definitely smelled amazing

Forgetting that I had an audience Lucas says "Read it out loud....."
