Butterflies

You used to give me this fluttery feeling,
My heart would skip a beat.
The butterflies dancing in my stomach,
While heat rushed into my cheeks.

Whenever you'd pass by, a smile would graze my lips,
My legs would turn to stone.
My mind would be in daydream mode and I'd be jittering to the very bone.

The butterflies, oh, those beautiful things, would somersault and leap and dance,
My eyes would shine, my heart would sing and alongside my mind would prance.

But darling, now, what have you done?
To this soul that never cried?
Because all I feel is a chilling numbness,
As all the butterflies have died.
