Chapter 7

Clementine's P.O.V

It's just after lunch, the evening more or less, me and Louis are leaving a little earlier than expected to find the others, we're more or less ready to set out. Everything is looking up despite this afternoons ordeal in the woods, since we have gotten back, I've barely managed to say a single word, I couldn't help but feel upset beyond words, Louis tried to calm me down after it, fortunately nothing bad happened...
If I hadn't have seen that fucking walker.
Goddammit.
Trying to keep myself busy, I decide to play a little game with my goofball.

"I spy with my little eye, something beginning with S".
Aj says.

We are sat on the dorm wall looking acroos the yard and at the admin building.

"Ummmm"...
I look around rapidly, trying to spot the S.

"Is it...the sky"? I wonder.

"Nope"! He spats out

"Is it the sofa"? Scratching my cap.

"Clem you not even close".
He giggles

"Geez kiddo you sure did give me a hard one"...
I mutter

I continue to look around.

"You give up"?

I make a hardened line with my lips.

"Fine"! I exasperate.

"It's that stupid shitfuck Abel"
He giggles besides me.

"Hey"!
"Watch the swears or your going in time out".

Jesus the kid was only 5 and he was now swearing like there was no tomorrow...

A long pause passes.

"He is though". He remarks.

"You cheated he isn't even in sight". I say annoyed.

"Whatever"...he quietly says, thinking I won't hear it, I dont really, I just begin to stare into the horizon, lost in thought.

"Clem"?

"Clem"!

I quickly look towards him, snapping me out of my trance.

"Are you okay"?
"You seem weird". He says, fumbling with his jacket.

"Don't worry about me, Aj".
I smile at him reassuringly.

"It's because we're leaving tomorrow...right"?

I look down at my boots, I still haven't told him the plan.

"Aj"-

"Clem it will be fine, I won't let anybody hurt you, or Louis".
He says cutting me of.

This wasn't going to be fun.

"Kiddo, I need you to listen".

He pouts, wrapping his arms around himself.

"Me and Louis are going tomorrow to find Violet, Omar,Aasim and Sophie and Minnie, we though it would be better for you to stay with Ruby and the other kids".

His face saddens, not quite believing me, I just stare at him, brokenhearted.

"Your, your leaving me"?
He whimpers.

No Aj, please don't cry.

"Aj, this was really difficult for me, but I just can't promise you that it will be safe, I have no idea how dangerous it will be".
