Mew is said to live and roam in the forest of Guyana in South America. Much speculation grew from this because for the longest time, we believed that the Pokemon World takes place in a fictional world. But apparently this once-believed "fictional world" takes place in the real world.
But this isn't the only proof of that; a story is told how Delibird once helped a poor mountain climber reach the top of Mt. Everest. So does Pokemon take place in this world?
Well, many assume that these places are just locations that are based on real life places. They drew this conclusion because all 6 regions in the Pokemon World are based on real life locations. Kanto through Sinnoh are all based on places in Japan. Unova is based on New York. And Kalos is based on France.
