Steve and Tony ~ Grounded

"Just wait around the corner, I'll be right down" you whispered into your phone before shoving it back in your pocket, quietly making your way down the hallway that connected everyone's rooms. Your room was inconveniently the furthest down the hall, which meant you had to sneak past everyone's room without making a single peep.

Clint, Thor and Nat were the easiest to get by, you couldn't wake them up even with a full marching band. And Bruce always slept with earphones in listening to music. Steve on the other hand was a much lighter sleeper, always on alert. But with a few well planned steps you managed to creep past his room. There was only one more door you had to get past and easy sailing from there. Tony's.

And of course, like always, he was up working on some tech. He barely ever slept, and when he did it was only for a couple hours. Sure enough, when you peeked in through his door he was there hunched over his desk working on something.

Placing carefully planned steps so the floor boards wouldn't creek, while holding your breath, you got past his room. Excited that your planned had worked, you took off across the living room, accidentally knocking over a book.

It fell with a thud on the floor, which seemed louder than it probably was. You heard Tony's footsteps getting closer, so in panic you threw yourself under the couch.

"hello?" Tony said as he turned on the lights. When no one answered he walked over to where you were. You held your breath and stood as still as possible. If he found you you'd be dead. His feet were inches from your face and you heard your heartbeat pounding in your ears.

After a few seconds, which felt more like years, he walked away and turned off the light. You let out a deep breath and left the building, meeting your friends and driving off to a party

"See you guys tomorrow" you said, before opening the door and quietly entering the facility. You closed the door, pleased with how well your plan had worked out, when the lights turned on. Eyes wide, you turned around to find Steve and Tony in the living room, Tony looking particularly angry.

"Well, look who decided to show up?" Tony said, standing up from his chair and walking to you. You could hear in his voice how mad he was. You gulped.

"I was jus-"

"Save it," he said, "(y/n) do you know how worried we were? I was this close to calling Fury and starting a nationwide search for you"

"I'm fine ok? Nothing happened to me" you huffed, trying to walk past him but he got in your way again

"Oh I'm not done with you." Tony said, taking a deep breath. "You can't just walk in here at 4 am and expect me to just let you go? You know I should lock you in your room for a month. And I probably will-"

"Tony," Steve stepped in, pulling Tony away. Steve looked at you and then back at tony.
"We should speak privately,"

You rolled your eyes as they walked to the kitchen counter, where you saw what looked like Steve trying to reason with Tony, while Tony looked about ready to explode.

You saw Clint next to the TV, and he gave you a sympathetic smile.

When Steve and Tony we're done speaking, they walked back over to where you were.

"So? What's it gonna be? 1 week without my phone?" You asked annoyed

"Try 2 weeks" Tony said, extending his arm.

"There's no way that's happening" you scoffed, trying to get past him again

"That," Tony said, looking over at Steve,

" Or kitchen duty. For a month." He said, his arms across his chest. You stared at them, not believing how unfair they were being.

"You guys can't do this" you said, trying to get out of it but knowing you were stuck. They caught you, and now you were gonna have to face consequences.

"Actually, we can," Tony said. His features softened and he looked into your eyes "honey we just want what's best for you"

You groaned, handing over your phone.

"You guys suck," you said, storming off down the hallway to your room

"We love you too!" Steve called after you.
