New York Return Hate

When my brother was in high school and my family had money to spare, my mother and him went to visit New York City. They were gone maybe a week and I was ten or eleven years old at the time, so I actually cared about my mother then. Anyways when they walked in the door I greeted my mother and I don't know what I said, perhaps I questioned "How was Ney York?" then as she responded I held my eyes open wide purposefully and nodded my head a lot. My mother took this as bad behavior and told me to go to my room and stay there the remainder of the night. She even went so far as to take the souvenir she bought me, I think it was a magic set or something, regardless she either threw it away or sold it. It hurt but this was a regular occurrence, the taking back of presents. I again know money wasn't always there in our youth, but taking a child's gift back or refusing to give it to them is the behavior of a child. I hated my mother so much. I suppose quid pro quo she died a terribly painful death at a young age so things all equal out.
