All right, so you're now familiar with the basics of navigating the new clubs and your profile settings, let's talk creating a topic. For the purpose of this guide I'm going to be in the private Lab Experiment group that was set up to test things in beta. However, everything discussed here will be relevant in all clubs. Clicking on new topic is where we want to begin. Doing so will bring up the slider that allows you to start creating your topic.

You can resize this area as needed by sliding the bar up and down. To make things a little clearer in the screen caps, I'm going to drag the box all the way up to hide all the threads. On the right hand side you'll see a box that says "Your topic is similar to..." which will in turn have a list of topics (if there are any) it's similar to. This'll be good to have if say you're going to the improve your writing club to ask about the length of a chapter, theoretically any and all posts that are about the length of a chapter should pop up here. Then you could forgo posting a new topic and instead go to one already created to see if it has the answer you seek. If none of these topics are what you seek then hit escape or click the x in the right hand side, this will remove that area and bring up the preview of the topic.

A lot of the tools you're going to use to create a topic will also be in use for typing a reply.

First you need give your topic a title. You'll type this in the first box you'll see.
