There are lots of generalizations floating around about the writing community, and it puzzles me. You know we're not all exactly the same, right? But apparently, people have some really interesting stereotypes about us, so let's dissect them. The stereotypes, not the people, just to be clear.

1. We're all broke: You just can't make a living as a writer.

2. We're shy AF: All writers are shy, timid introverts.

3. We're all miserable: You gotta be a tortured artist to produce quality writing.

4. Gimme that movie adaption! Every author's goal is a movie deal.

5. We can't let crap go: Piss off a writer, and you'll die in their book.

6. We write our personal fantasies: All books are wish fulfillment, and all MCs are self-inserts.

7. WTF? Rituals? All successful authors have rituals.

8. Deep, Meaningful, Poetic Curtains: Everything's a symbol.

9. We listen to "My Chemical Romance": All writers are jaded.

10. Writer Fetuses: All writers come out of the womb writing.
