Ch. 8 Laser tag

"Carter!"

I ran over to Jamie then jumped into her arms. She starts laughing as she stumbles back a little but gained her balance as she held me up. I wrapped my arms around her neck and my legs were around her waist.

My excitement was untameable when I heard her car outside. I ran outside as fast as I could when she texted me and told me she was pulling up.

After I pushed myself off of her, I wrapped my arms around her neck and smiled. "I missed you!"

I heard someone clear their throat as I pull back and saw Ayden standing there staring at us. I couldn't help but chuckle as I pull him into a hug as well so it's a three-person hug.

"I missed you both!"

Ayden smiles as we all pull back. "We missed you too. How are you?" He looks over at Jamie then motions towards me. "Have you told her?"

I look over at Jamie as she smiles at me then holds out her hand. I look down at it as I saw a ring on her finger then instantly felt my jaw drop. "You're engaged!?"

"Yes." Jamie laughs.

"Since when?" I held her hand as I looked at the ring.

Jamie smiles then looks at Ayden. "Maybe a month now."

I look over at my best friend and couldn't help but slap his arm. "I can't believe you didn't call me the moment you proposed!"

I saw Jamie walk past me then I turn to see her pulling Tory into a hug. I look back at Ayden then crossed my arms. "Oh look, Tory." Ayden smiles then walks past me, ignoring my glares.

Smiling at them, I watch as they talk to Tory for a while then we all walk inside. I watch as Jamie walked into the living room and flopped down on the couch as Piper came up to her and laid in her lap.

Tory spoke from the kitchen. "Congrats on the engagement." She smiles.

I look over at Jamie and nod. "Yes, congrats. I'm happy for you both."

Jamie smiles. "When are y'all going to tie it down?"

I look over at Tory as she smiles over at Jamie. "Not sure yet."

"Better hurry." Jamie chuckles. "I'm joking." She pets Piper as she was on her lap.

I look over at Tory and knew that it had to be sooner than later.

I crouch next to the couch. "What are we going to do tonight?" I ask before checking my watch to see the time.

It was about one in the afternoon, which we had a while until it was even close to night time.

"Jamie wants to relax for right now." Ayden says as he walks in with a soda in his hands. He sits down on the couch as well before opening her can. "We've been busting our asses off."

"Oh yeah, college." I smile. "How are things there?"

Jamie sighs as Ayden takes a sip of his soda. "Stressful." He says once he puts the can down.

"More than stressful." Jamie looks at him before looking at me. "College is literally kicking my ass, man. I thought it was going to be easy.. or at least somewhat."

I smile as I really wanted to experience that. College has always been my dream, or atleast part of my dream. I wanted to go somewhere far away and start life as a college student and experience so many things.

So many possibilities.

"What are you majoring in again?"

"Nursing." Jamie said, then looks over at Ayden and smiles. "Both of us are."
