MIANJHA: A day or two before the actual Nikah (marriage) ceremony, the bride is dressed up in yellow dress. A paste made of Turmeric,sandalwood and rosewater sent by her would be in laws is applied to the bride's face,hand and feet. The women of the family gather for the occasion to participate in a fun of mischief events. They take their turn in applying the paste to the bride and to each other. The ceremony is followed by a lot of singing and dancing, and then are bathed in holy water. Traditional after this step the bride and groom are not supposed to step out of their respective houses until the big day.
