chapter thirty-one : the girl who lived

☆ ☆ ☆

Black hair covered June's face and drops of something wet were falling onto her face. She blinked a couple of times, letting her eyes get used to her surroundings.

She was back.

"Sirius?" she said quietly, making the man freeze. He pulled back, his face stained with tears and when he looked down at her, an expression of total shock came over his face. Then he let out a sob and pulled her tightly into him. His shoulders were shaking but June didn't know whether that was because he was crying or laughing. Probably both.

Faint memories of what had happened at the graveyard came back to her as she absently patted Sirius' back. What had happened? Who had killed her? And most importantly —

"Where is Harry?"

Her question made Sirius pull back, his face was still stained by tears but he wore a large grin.

"He's just —" Sirius began, turning around to look for Harry, but seemed surprised when he didn't find him, "— here?"

Juniper scrambled up and looked around. Gasps were heard from all around her, but she ignored them as she tried to spot her cousin. Her eyes eventually settled on Dumbledore and she strode over to him.

"Juniper," the man said, blinking in surprise.

"Where is Harry?" the black haired questioned him. "Where is he?"

Dumbledore's blue eyes hardened, as if suddenly, everything made sense.

"Severus, Minerva, with me," he ordered, before hurrying up the castle.

"Hey!" June exclaimed, running after them, but they ignored her. She followed them into the castle up to the second floor and wondered why on earth they'd go to Moody's office. "Will someone please explain me what's going on? Who was that person on the graveyard? Who was the baby? Who killed me?"

At that last question, both McGonagall and Snape turned around, exchanging a glance, before looking at her.

"I presume we will know soon enough," Snape eventually said, sounding rather gentle.

"Come now, Miss Black," McGonagall said, urging the black haired forwards. "I'm sure Albus will tell us everything."

The three of them followed the Headmaster inside the office and June that he had his wand pointed at Moody. However, before she could ask what in Merlin's name was happening, a sobbing Harry collided with her, hugging her as tightly as she could.

"Harry," she breathed, hugging his back.

"Y-you w-were d-dead," he sobbed, looking up at her. "I s-saw h-him k-kill y-you."
