One year (Y/N) and I have been together. (Y/N) still keeps her mask on a lot of the time but, when we're by ourselves, the mask comes off. At least she's starting to get over being self-conscious about herself. Between the two of us, everything has been amazing. But as for the Avengers, things aren't going so great. Wanda recently made a mistake while on a mission.

She tried to save Steve from an explosion but accidentally threw it at a building blowing it up. (Y/N) and I weren't there but we saw it on the news. At the moment, myself, (Y/N), Tony, Rhodey, Nat, Steve, Sam, Vision and Wanda were at the meeting room with the Secretary of State, Secretary Ross. He wasn't happy with us, that's all I knew.

"Five years ago, I had a heart attack," Ross started, "I dropped right in the middle of my back-swing. Turned out it was the best round of my life, because after 13 hours of surgery and a triple bypass... I found something 40 years in the Army had never taught me: Perspective. The world owes the Avengers an un-payable debt. You have fought for us, protected us, risked your lives... but while a great many people see you as heroes, there are some... who would prefer the word 'vigilantes'."

"And what word would you use, Mr Secretary?" Nat asked him.

"How about 'dangerous'? What would you call a group of US-based, enhanced individuals who routinely ignore sovereign borders and inflict their will wherever they choose and who, frankly, seem unconcerned about what they leave behind?" Ross activates a screen behind him and news footage from past Avengers and SHIELD matters flash on the screen as he speaks, "New York," I cringed and looked away, "Washington DC. Sokovia. Lagos."

"Okay. That's enough," Steve said

Secretary Ross nods and the images disappear, "For the past four years, you've operated with unlimited power and no supervision. That's an arrangement the governments of the world can no longer tolerate. But I think we have a solution," he places a thick document on the desk and passes it to Wanda

"The Sokovia Accords. Approved by 117 countries..." Ross said, "it states that the Avengers shall no longer be a private organization. Instead, they'll operate under the supervision of a United Nations panel, only when and if that panel deems it necessary."

"The Avengers were formed to make the world a safer place. I feel we've done that," Steve said

"Tell me, Captain, do you know where Thor and Banner are right now?" I looked at Ross at the mention of Thor who we haven't seen in a year, "If I misplaced a couple of 30 megaton nukes... you can bet there'd be consequences. Compromise. Reassurance. That's how the world works. Believe me, this is the middle ground."

"So, there are contingencies," Rhodey said

"Three days from now, the UN meets in Vienna to ratify the Accords," Ross said, "Talk it over."

"And if we come to a decision you don't like?" (Y/N) asked.

"Then you retire," he told her.

Retirement. That sounds nice. He left and we started discussing what to do. Some wanted to sign, some wanted to retire and some didn't want to sign at all or retire. (Y/N) was one that didn't want to do either. Tony tried to put his point across that we should sign with a boy that was killed while we were saving the world from Ultron. A building fell on him. Well, we couldn't stop that, now could we? We can't watch everyone while trying to make sure the whole world doesn't die.

And I've grown quite fond of Earth. So much that I've also started to wear Midgardian clothing. My favourite; jeans, shirt and back hoodie. Very comfortable compared to what I used to wear. The only thing I haven't changed is my hair. I wanted to cut it shorter but (Y/N) likes how it is so I only get it trimmed and nothing more. Steve then had to leave the room. A quick look in his mind revealed that the love of his life, Peggy, who he met in 1943, died in her sleep.

Well, she wasn't young when he woke up from the ice, that's what I know. I also left the room. I wanted to think more about the whole situation. I want to take the retirement option and live life with (Y/N) but she doesn't want to and I'm still seen as a bad person to a lot of people. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

"What's the matter, Loki?" (Y/N) asked.

I looked at my mask-less love.

"I can't sign it," I said.

"Why not?" She asked.

"No matter what, I'll still be the villain to anyone. Even the government. I want to retire to spend my life with you. A normal life."

"With your record and my face, it won't be normal, Loki."

"It will be our normal. We can move away from America. Away from New York. Somewhere where no one will cause us bother because of past mistakes and looks. I would love to take you to Asgard but I'm not welcome there anymore. But I'd rather spend the rest of my life with you right here, on Earth. We can have that and more if you retire with me. Please."

She gave it a thought, "alright. I'll retire with you. I love your vision and want to see it come true too."

This made me happy. The two of us retired along with Clint. With a head start thanks to Ross, we moved to England and got a little flat for the two of us including Noir. (Y/N) got a job in a small bakery while I got a job in a library because that's the closest job I could get with my history. I didn't care. I was living the normal life with (Y/N).

In our spare time, away from work, we would spend time cuddling, watching television, movies, television shows, I finally taught her how to Waltz and I would read to her a lot. I'm always happy to and she loves it when I read to her. Everything is perfect. I thought being king was the perfect life but this is so much better. (Y/N) is my life now and I wouldn't have it any other way.
