Amelia is awakened by the sunlight shining into their hotel room. When she looks out the window, she sees the top of the Eiffel Tower rising above the French rooftops. She had rented the perfect apartment for these two days—one just like in the movies. Right in the center of Paris, with a balcony with French doors and a view over the whole of Paris and the Eiffel Tower on the horizon.
She looks beside her and sees that Lando is still sleeping peacefully. A curl hangs over his forehead and moves a little with the wind coming in through the window. She pulls the strand back with the tips of her fingers and continues to stroke his hair until a small smile appears on his lips. She stops and puts her hand under her head, then continues to stare at him.
"I can feel you're staring at me, you know that?" His smile turns into a grin, and not much later, his blue eyes appear. He lifts his arm, signaling her to crawl over to him, which she does immediately. Once she lies against him, he runs his fingers through her hair while staring into her eyes. The mischievous look he used to have gets more serious the longer he looks at her.
"What is it?" she mumbles as she enjoys the feeling he is giving her now.
"I love you," he says out of nowhere. It was the first time he said this. Sure, they'd texted it to each other and said it constantly in the comments of each other's photos. But they had never said it to each other in person. Therefore, it is logical that Amelia is shocked for a while, but she immediately recovers and gets the biggest smile.
"I love you," she says back and puts her hand on his cheek before kissing him lovingly. When they pull back, Amelia rests her head on his chest and looks out.
"Such a shame today is the last day," she sighs. She doesn't get an answerback, so she assumes Lando nods. A few seconds later, she feels his hand find its way back through her hair. That way, they stay in bed for the rest of the morning.
In the afternoon, they decide to take the tourist route through Paris. One more time to the Eiffel Tower, along the Champs-Élysées, to the square near Louvre. This trip did them a lot of good. Away from all the hustle and bustle of the F1 world was good for them. And not having to deal with annoying exes was very nice. They thoroughly enjoyed these days together because before they knew it, it was over.
