My name's Mallory Walls and I live in a foster home. I doubt that's my last name considering I've never met my parents. I'm 17 and a senior. This is the last year then I can finally go to college and leave everybody.

I have a sister named, Mina and she's pretty much.. a, I don't want to say it. She's also in this foster home with me. She's 19 and not in college.

We were really close back then but new people in the foster home came and convinced her to 'stay away from me'. Like seriously, who does that? So, Mina and I don't even talk anymore. She just gives me 'the look'.

Mina and her boyfriend, Bryant always be doing 'the nasty'. They are literally so loud. I hate it.

I'm really insecure about myself. People don't want to hang out with me. I wear big, round glasses, dress not nicely. I'm pretty much the biggest nerd at school and pretty much anywhere. I've NEVER had a boyfriend. It's pretty obvious. Still a virgin, yes.

My foster parents are never home. They're always away. That means, party, right? Yup, Mina and her 'crew' always throws parties. It's insane. The party's full of beer, you name it, it'll be there.

There's going to be a party tonight. Yay, woohoo. So excited. Nope.

I never go downstairs to the party because Mina's embarrassed.

"Good morning, Mallory." My friend, Brett said.

"Good morning to you too, Brett." I said to him with a smile.

"Do you want me to take you to school today?" He asked.

I shook my head. "I can take the bus."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." I assured him.

I grabbed an apple and put it in my bag.

"That's all your eating for lunch today?" He asks.

"No. It's for my breakfast." I told him.

"Eat it now. You still have 5 minutes."

I nodded in agreement and took the apple out. I took a huge bite.

"Done." I said.

"You only took a bite.."

"I'm full."

"Alright. I'll be at school."

"Yeah, see ya." I waved.

I know what you guys are thinking. Mallory, why don't you just ride to school with Brett? Well, because.. the ride is so awkward.

I saw the bus and it just closed the door.

"Hey!" I shouted. "Wait for me!"

Students on the bus was looking out the window at me and laughing at me.

"Haha!" They laughed.

"Let's go!" a person said.

That's on a daily basis.

I saw Brett going in his car.

"Can I get a ride to school?" I asked him.

"Of course." He smiled.

The ride to school was awkward, as usual.

I got out of the car and everybody stared at me.

"She came to school today with.. Brett?" I heard girls whispering.

"I gave her a ride to school, so what?" Brett told them.

They all turned around and do what they were doing.

"Thanks.." I said.

"The pleasure is mine." He smiled.

"No," I said. "you're always sticking up for me."

"I do it because I want to, Mallory. It's nothing. Don't worry."

"You're like a brother to me. Thank you." I said.

Brett isn't actually my foster brother. He's has different foster parents. The foster house that we live in is huge. There's a lot of different foster parents. He's always so nice to me. He's one of my best friends. Actually, the only one. He's my only friend.

"Yup. Uh.. let's get to class."

"Good idea. I'm not wanting to be late."

Brett and I both split up to go to our classes.

I walked in class and all eyes were on me.

I quickly sat down in the front.

Jayden's POV:

"Babe, we goin' to the party at the foster house tonight." Aspyn said.

"Party?" I ask. "What party? Their throwing a party again? Didn't they just threw one 2 nights ago?"

"That house is a party addict. We should go."

"Alright. I'm in."

"Yay!" she cheered. "See ya later, Jayden."

"Yeah."

She gave me a quick peck on the lips and walked off.

The bell rung and I walked in the classroom.

"You're late.. again, Mr. Willings." The teacher, Mrs. Mackie said.

I scoffed. "It's not a surprise."

"Sit down, Mr. Willings."

"Gladly, Mrs. Smackie."

"It's Mackie." She corrected me.

I know that that's her name but I like to call her Smackie instead.

I went to the back but Smackie said, "Nope. In the front, next to Mallory."

Mallory's POV:

No. Why?

I heard his footsteps approaching the desk next to me.

"Hey." He said.

Did he just say 'hey' to me? I look up but realized that he said it to the girl on the other side.

After class was over, Mrs. Mackie called me.

"Mallory." She said.

"Yeah?" I turned around.

"Jayden."

He turned around. "What?"

"Come here."

We walked up to her.

"Jayden, first of all, you're failing English. No, scratch that, you're failing all your classes." She told him.

Wait? Why am I here?

Mrs. Mackie looks at me. "Mallory, I want you to tutor Jayden."

What?

"Oh, come on Smackie! I don't need a tutor." Jayden says.

"Yes you do. You're failing miserably. I'm going to have Mallory tutor you. Is that okay, Mallory?"

"Uh.."

I saw Jayden shaking his head at me.

"Alright! It's settled!" Mrs. Mackie said. "You can start tutoring him after school today."

"What?!" He exclaimed.

Darn it..
