"What is she doing?" I heard Rev said.

"Unfortunately, she's my sister," My sister Mina said. "real, biological sister. Ugh, I absolutely hate it."

"I would kill myself."

I ignore their conversation and grabbed an apple.

"Hey Brett." I said.

"Hi, Mallory." He said. "How are you?"

"I'm okay."

"I heard them talking about you over there."

"It's on a daily basis. I don't mind." I told him.

"Alright, do you want me to take you to school?" He asks.

"Uh.. No, I don't want people looking at you that way because of me."

"No, it's okay! I don't mind, really."

I nodded. "Kay..."

We got to school and I got the same looks from people.

Brett rolled their eyes at them.

They're always looking at me like that because Brett is the jock of the school.

"Mind your own business people," Brett said. "mind your own business."

"Oh.. so you're with him?" Jayden says.

"No." I responded.

"Why'd you come with him, nerd?" He asks.

Gosh, he is really bipolar.

"Because I offered her." Brett told him.

"I wasn't asking you." Jayden growled at him.

"She doesn't want to talk to you, Jay." Brett snapped at him. "Leave her alone."

"Oh, I'll leave her alone." He said. "Where we meeting up today? My place?"

"Uh.." I started to say.

"Meeting up?" Brett asks.

"Yeah.. she's my tutor." Jayden told him. "Did your girlfriend not tell you?"

"What?" Brett exclaimed.

"Let's meet up in the library, Jayden." I told him.

I walked to class and sat down quickly.

"Nerd's here!" The students shouted.

Jayden came and sat down at the back.

"Okay, class." Mrs. Mackie started to speak. "There's nothing today so do whatever you want."

"Woohoo! Yeah!" They all cheered.

"Oh, don't feel free." She growled. "Damn, teenagers." She mumbled.

"Yo! Jay! I heard that you have to be tutored by that nerd in the front!" I heard Donavan said.

"Yeah. It kinda sucks." Jayden told him. "Like, what the hell? I don't need a tutor."

"It kinda sucks? If I was tutored by her, I'll rather die."

"Mallory?" Mrs. Mackie said.

"Yeah?" My face lit up.

"Come here."

I got up from my seat and went up to her desk.

"Yes, Mrs. Mackie?" I ask.

"How's tutoring going with Jayden?" She asked.

"Oh, it's pretty good. It went well." I told her.

"I'm sorry for making you do this but he really needs the help."

"Yeah, I understand, Mrs. Mackie."

"If he gives you any trouble while tutoring him, just tell me, Mallory. Don't be afraid."

"Yes."

"Alright, you can go back."

I went back to my seat and sat back down.

Mrs. Mackie was a lady in her mid 30's. She's probably one of my favorite teachers. She tells me about herself and I tell her about me. She has just 2 daughters. One's 15 and the other's 9. She's been married to her husband for 14 years. Her first name's Rain by the way.

Something was thrown on my desk.

I looked at the person 3 desks from me.

He mouthed, "Read it!"

I opened it and it said, 'Nerd! You're a nerd! Nobody wants to befriend you!'

That really hurt me.

After class was over, I went in the bathroom and balled my eyes out. I heard girls mumbling in the bathroom about me.

About 2 minutes later, I got out and walked to class.

"Hey Mallory." Brett said.

"Hi." I sniffled. Dammit.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing."

"Nothing? You've been crying."

I shook my head. "Just.. teary eyes from yawning." I lied.

"Hey, if anyone gives you trouble, tell me. You can always tell me." He said.

"Thanks."

"Ohhp! Nerd!" Somebody shouted.

"Hey, you better shout your mouth!" Brett snapped at them. "Stop calling her a nerd."

"What's wrong with you, Brett?" They asked. "Why would you hang out with.. her?"

Brett turned to me. "I'm sorry."

"No, it's fine." I said.

Tears were sliding down my cheeks.

"Come on, Brett. We have football practice."

"I have to go," he said. "you'll be okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah. Thanks."

I watched him get up from his seat and left the classroom.
