The Inevitable

The Inevitable

I’m a stubborn person.

I don’t take kindly to change.

When it arrives at my doorstep,

I stick out my bottom lip in a pout,

I stomp one foot in bullheadedness,

cross my arms, and have a stare-down.

Of course, I seldom win.

It taps its foot on my doormat,

swings on my porch swing,

sits on my steps,

patiently,

waiting,

for me to crack,

just a little,

from the boredom;

to inch away from my post.

And when I do,

it rages in through the doorway,

as a destructive, tidal wave,

tearing my house of

safety and security

down

until there is

nothing

left.

Over the years,

I’ve learned to just go with the flow.

Why fight it, when there is no use?

So when change arrives at my doorstep,

I purse my lips in a reluctant smile,

open the door wide enough so it can enter,

and say, “Long time no see.”

I advise you,

to do the same.

When change arrives at your doorstep,

just ride the wave out,

and

everything

will be

just

a bit

easier.

"I'm a stubborn person." <-haha, so true. Vote&comment! (<-I bet you're getting annoyed by me reminding you to do this, but it would totally make my day!)
