Like Helen Keller
Imagine.
Seeing pitch blackness for miles on end.
Never-ending.
Just being enveloped in the darkness,
Without a single hopeful flicker of light.
Never seeing.
Imagine.
Listening to deafening silence for hours on end.
Never-ending.
Just being alone, lost in the world,
Without a single supportive word of encouragement.
Never hearing.
Imagine.
Being Helen Keller.
So many of us,
Share some of the
Exact same qualities of this
Highly-praised woman.
Blindness.
Deafness.
Fear.
Unable to see the joys of life.
Unable to hear the simplicities of happiness.
Fear of trying, then failing.
So many of us,
Could be
So much more,
If we
Opened our eyes,
Started listening,
Stopped being afraid,
And
Just
Started
Living.
Like Helen Keller.
