It’s time to put everything behind you.
The good and the bad,
just store it away,
in the
darkest,
farthest
corner of your mind.
Nine seconds left.
Why is there the need
to look back at the
past,
when a bright, new
future
awaits?
Eight seconds left.
Why sigh over all the
time you had wasted
when you can
make up for it now?
Seven seconds left.
Why must you contemplate
previous
choices
when you
can’t
change history?
Six seconds left.
Why do you hold on to
the regret,
the grudges,
the anguish of grief,
when you can just
forgive
and
forget?
Five seconds left.
Why frown at all the
mistakes
of yesterday,
when you can smile at the
accomplishments
of tomorrow?
Four seconds left.
Why wish that you
had this or that
at this place and that time
when you could be
content
with what you had?
Three seconds left.
Why think of all the things you
can’t undo,
when a door of
opportunity
and
possibility
stands closed
in front of you?
Two seconds left.
Why?
One second left.
Why aren’t you celebrating this
Happy
New
Year?
