Holy fuck. That's the only phrase running through my mental brain at the moment. I always knew I was messed up, but messed up enough to kill someone? In all fairness, Leo did just attempt to choke me to death. I released all the maids once they agreed to my plan and they said they would bring me the Queen as soon as possible. Not even a moment later, my thoughts were interrupted my a small and polite knock on the door.

"Dear Athena, are you presentable?" I immediately recognized the timid voice to be Queen Gabriella. "Come in." I croaked. My voice still hoarse from the abuse I've suffered in the past 12 hours. The queen walked in, her petite figure looking even more weak in the dim light of the singular lamp in my room. Her blue eyes scanned my neck and horror corrupted her usually soft features. "Oh dear. What happened to you?"

I expected this question and already formulated the perfect response: "I got crunked last night smashed a beer bottle and accidentally cut myself and then blacked out." The sentence came out so casually, the Queen looked even more terrified then before. "I- I..." her meek voice trailed off in absolute shock. I mean hey, considering my reputation, was she really that surprised? Gabriella brought her small wrinkly hand to her head and rubbed the surface gently, I assumed to subside a migraine. She cleared her throat before speaking again, this time the volume of her a voice a little more pronounced. "What did you need dear?"

I smiled innocently, "Well, I wanted to prepare for the wedding of course! I've always wanted a spring wedding and considering it's January I suggest we get a move on it. I was thinking chrysanthemums and daisies as well as-"

"Slow down dear. As excited as I am for this event I would like if Leo was here to help discuss as well as the personal wedding planner." My giddy smile turned into a pout, trying to emphasize just how "impatient" I was for this wedding. In a way I was, but not for the right reasons. "I understand, your Majesty. I'm sorry if my excitement has startled you. I'm just so eager to be united with your son." The Queen smiled a soft yet real smile for the first time. Not a hint of fear behind those tired eyes. That was until Leo came barging in again.

He rushed to my side and clasped my small, cold hands in his. "Is mi amor awake? Thank the stars. I was so worried about you." The worry in his voice was almost believable. Gabriella certainly believed it though, melting at the sight of her stern son being so easily smitten for a girl he just met. I smiled at him warmly. On the inside, I was giving him the most deadly stare on the planet. He knew this. "Oh I'll leave you two alone," Gabriella said in a hushed tone, "it's a good time to discuss the wedding plans." And with that, she left the room. The door closed menacingly slow and it pained me to be left alone with Leo again.

The loving gaze in his eyes disappeared and he let go of my hand rather aggressively. "How's the wounds, trouble." I scowled at the new nickname and he smirked at my reaction. "It's just so adorable when you get so mad." He said in a mocking tone that made me cringe. "Your a dick. And if you think I'm going to let you control me this easily, you're in for it. I'm not one who gives in."

"Oh trust me my stubborn fiancé, I've noticed. You've caused me more problems in the last twenty-four hours then my entire life." I smiled triumphantly. He chuckled darkly before reaching in his back pocket to pull out something. My defense immediately kicked in, I sat up quickly, ready to run. This only amused him more. "Don't worry bella, it's just a healing salve. Our palaces personal medical team concocted this magic medicine. Your wound will be fully healed by sundown." He pulled out the small circular container and unscrewed the lid.

The thick, creamy substance made my skin crawl with suspicion. His fingers dipped in and he used his other hand to reach for my bandage. I backed away. "I don't trust you." I seethed. His eyes flashed with hurt but I knew it was just a rouse. "Who said you needed to trust me? I have a dinner tomorrow night and you need to be my date. There's no way I'm showing up when you look like... that." I glowered at him, "You're the one that caused this. Remember?" Once again, he leaned down so his lips were hit against my ear. "You were the one with the weapon amor." I gasped in shock when in that moment of distraction, he ripped the bandage off.

The stinging rang through my whole body but subsided as soon as the cool salve was applied to my wounds. The pain was immediately eliminated and for the first time all morning, my body relaxed. "Feels good doesn't it princess?" He whispered again. And tingling erupted in my stomach and I suppressed it quickly, cursing myself for even feeling that way. Leo seemed to notice my little reaction and smirked. "Don't get to cocky." I whispered back, clicking my tongue at the 'ck' and his smirk just grew. I felt victorious as I had the same authority over him before he stood up, his tall posture towering over me, yet not intimidating me at all. I was going to win this game.

It was late afternoon and I had remained locked up in my room all day, to ashamed to leave with the hideous thing adorning my neck. So far I had: wondered the room twenty-three times back and forth, read a random ass book I found tucked away in the night stand (only got through one chapter), made the holographic screen built into wall blast music, played games on said holo screen and took a lavender infused bath curtesy of the maids and help-droids.

The help-droids fascinated me lots. My parents were never ones for new technology. Which is probably why our people were living on the streets and they couldn't give a damn. Thinking about my poor, helpless people made my heart twinge with pain and only further reminded me why I was here, despite the pain I was in.

One particular android I preferred over the others was Ina. As all help-droids were built, she was the perfect silhouette of a human. With curves in all the right places and perfect facial features, she was beautiful. Her pale skin complimented her aqua/teal eyes and long wavy deep purple hair that crept above her waist. Her full lips and petite button nose only made her more approachable. But, the best thing about her was the fact that she actually had personality.

Most androids were all programmed to just do what they were told and not have any deep interactions. Not Ina. She was a giddy girl. Only about two years old in androids years but probably 16 in human years. She fawned over the famous celebrities from the Republic, who were, keep in mind, on the other side of the world. "James Holland is just so... ugh." She groaned at one point, "and watching his great grandfather in those old films. The genes were present in every generation. Oh I wish I could just meet him." She wooed. I just giggled at her girlish fantasies.

The sun was setting and I had retired to the bathroom for the night. I examined my neck in the mirror. To my surprise, the wounds were almost
completely gone, the only thing staying behind was a few small bruises and a scar. He gave me a scar. I sighed in frustration before making my way to bed. I had barely made half the progress I wanted at this point. So far, me and the prince just hated each other and ultimately, wanted each other dead. I grabbed the holo pad off my night stand, clicking the on button. Ina had left some nail polish and the holo pad in my room.

I tapped the floating screen searching for some sort of information. Something. Anything. I scoured the web for any dirt on the Gaiden royal family. Anything I could use against Leo if he tried anything with me again. I found a link deep in the files already downloaded onto the device. I think Ina stole it from one of the royal cabinet officers. My thoughts were interrupted by a brisk knock on the big oak doors. I hid the holo pad under my pillow, afraid that if it was Leo, he would take it away. Or worse, punish Ina for giving it to me.

I opened the door confidently, ready to face my fiancé. Instead, a rectangular box was at the base of my doors. A silk red and yellow ribbon was tied around it. The colors of Gaiden's flag. A small piece of paper was tucked beneath the thick ribbon. I grabbed the box and hurriedly locked my door. I placed it on the bed and opened the letter first.

Athena,
A little gift for the dinner tomorrow. I know it must be difficult still settling in. I hope you like it!
-Sofia

I smiled, a real genuine smile, and lifted the top of the box off carefully. Inside was the most beautiful gown I've ever seen. I've had my share of gowns, but this was just extraordinary. I lifted the lavish dress out of the box carefully and immediately hung in on the closet door to prevent wrinkling.

The bodice was cinched at the waist, with a deep neckline and off the shoulder long, flowing sleeves. It fluffed out the waistline, made up of layers of soft fabric and tule. The dress itself was a deep green color, embellished with silver stones and diamonds around the neckline. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. She barely saw Leo today, she made a new friend, and she has another friend who gave her a gift. She's never received a gift. Or had a friend. Let alone two.
