I woke up to the sound of tapping coming from my window. I peak one eye open, hopping it's just rain so that I can fall back asleep. However it's just spiderman.

Wait. I think to myself. Spiderman?

Both of my eyes pop open, and just like i thought. It was Spider. I jump out of bed and quickly unlock the window, pulling him in as quicklky as I can hoping none of my neighbors saw him standing their in borad daylight.

Spider tilts his head as I quickly shut the blinds before turning back to him. "Are you good?"

"Fine," I respond, out of breath.

"You seem stressed."

I throw my hands in the air. "Well you kind of just randomly dropped in on me. In broad daylight. Where anyone can see you."

"And...?"

"Do you want the next villain fight to happen around here?"

Spider takes a deep breath as if finally understanding why I am so anxious at his appearnance. "I just needed to talk to after last night. I didn't mean to worry you."

I smile as I head to my kitchen to grab an apple. "Oh. What's up?"

Spiderman leans against the counter as he watches me move the motions of my reagular morning routine. "I wanted... well I wanted to show you something."

"I have work in like an hour in a half..." I trail off as Spider's shoulders slump. "How long will it take?"

He perks up at my question. "Not long. And I can drop you off in an alley near your work. Now hurry up and get ready. I promise you won't regret seeing this."

I smile at his excitment, and also at the idea of going on an adventure. My life hadn't been too full of those, especially recently. Unless you called getting to know Spiderman an adventure. I slipped into my work clothes and threw my hair up. If I was going to be traveling with Spiderman, there was no way my hair was going to make it if I left it down. Finally I grabbed my purse and met Spiderman by the window.

"Alright, where are we going, Spiderboy?" I giggled.

"It's a surprise you, goofball." He hestiantly grabbed me up. "Are you ready?"

I nodded, and closed my eyes as he began swinging around the city. My ponytail swung around my face whipping around in the wind. My purse did the same, jiggling with the coins inside. I opened one eye and watched the world move quickly past. The city streets were already busy this morning, bustling with people getting ready for work, no longer fazed by their neighborhood spiderman. Suddenly, the world slowed and Spider planted his feet on the ground.

"You can let go now," Spiderman whispered.

"Oh right."

I opened both of my eyes to find the streets still miles below us. The sky seemed closer than I had ever seen it before, but yet still too close to ever touch. However even so far up, the sights and sounds of thss area seemed familiar. Like this was a place I passed daily, but from a new angle.

"Where are we?" I pause as it suddenly clicked. "Is this the Empire State Building?"

"Yep," Spiderman answered out into the wind. "I thought you would like the view."

"It's amazing. I never thought something so familiar could look so different and beautiful," I responded in awe.

Spiderman scooted to the edge of the roof to look down. He then turned to me and held out his hand. "Trust me. I won't let you fall."

I took his hand and moved myself closer to the edge of the roof just like he asked. There I could more clearly see the streets of New York. The people from up here looked so tiny. Like ants moving around looking for food in a huge picnic.

"So why did you bring me here?"

Spiderman sighed. "Is was after what you said last night. About thinking you could never forgive Peter."

I didn't respond. What could the Empire State Building have to do with my old friendship?

"I know you may never forgive him. I've thought the same thing before about people that have wronged me. I've thought that people could never forgive me for the things that I have done. But there is just something different about those feelings when you can see how little we seem from far away. Like maybe we should just take the pain and move on. And maybe even give them a second chance." Spider turns to me, waiting for a response.

I cup his masked face in my hands, wishing dearly that i could see his face. That i could look into his eyes and see what he felt.

"I want to Spider, I do. But-"

Spider cuts me off. "Please, just here me out. You don't have to change your mind. Just... just listen."

I nod solemly.

"There was a girl, my friend that I told you about that night I found that picture of Peter. She was the only friend I had left, the only one that I hadn't tainted because of my life as Spiderman. And I broke off our friendship. I'm not sure if at the time I knew why I did it. But I think now I realize, it was because I couldn't bear to hurt her because of who I was. I couldn't loose her because of Spiderman, and then I lost her in a worse way.

"She never knew of my life as Spiderman. She still doesn't. And I ran into her the other day out of pure luck, and I tried talking to her, but she didn't care. I wanted to tell her of all the adventures that I had gone through. Let her know that I was still watching over her, even though she hated me. But she left before i could say another word. And I know your Peter has to have a good reason. And I know somewhere in your heart you have room to forgive him. Maybe not right now, but eventually. And I just... I need to know that maybe... maybe my friend might come back to me. Maybe not right now, but maybe a couple of years down the road when I can tell her everything without fear of loosing her. I need to know."

I couldn't bear to hear the sound of Spider's voice cracking. Hearing him break down right infront of me, and I could barely do anything to comfort him. I grabbed his hand, and turned his face to me.

"Spider, whoever this girl is. She will forgive you. You have a heart of gold, and she will come back. She's missing out on a wonderful young man, and she will realize. I promise," I whisper.

I begin to lift his mask. Spider reaches up with his hand, stopping me as I lift the mask just over his lips. As I look at him, I can't help but feel the urge to rip the entire mask off. To see the eyes of the superhero who was broken in front of me. But even just his mouth was something of a wonder. I couldn't help but imagine what they would feel like on mine. If I just leaned in just a little and-

"Y/n," Spider whispers.

My heart drops and I push back from Spiderman. What was I doing? This wasn't right.

"I uhh... I need to get to work."

Spiderman shakes his head, pulling his mask back down. "Right. Hold on tight."
