reese was patiently waiting for jamie to show up. she was seated at a table in the corner of the coffee shop away from the rest of the customers. there weren't that many people, but most of them looked around reese's age and she didn't want be bothered. she already texted trevor to let him know where she was sitting in order for him to tell jamie. right as she was about to respond to trevor and ask when jamie was coming, she heard the bell on the door ring. low and behold, jamie had entered the building.

jame was on the phone with who reese assumed was trevor. jamie looked like a lost puppy as his eyes searched the shop for his best friend. she heard jamie say on the phone, "trevor, are you sure you're here? i literally don't see you."

reese was trying to contain her laughter. she could imagine what trevor was saying on the other end. she heard jamie again, "in the corner? there's a blonde girl there." as if on cue, reese popped her head up and smiled at the dark hair boy.

jamie couldn't believe his eyes and said to trevor, "i don't know what you did, but thank you." he quickly ended the call and walked over to reese. he sat in the chair opposite of her and said to her, "you are not trevor zegras."

she giggled, "indeed i am not. is that a bad thing?"

jamie looked panicked while replying, "no! absolutely not!" he was afraid that he had offended her. reese couldn't help but find the stressed look on his face adorable. she could tell he truly cared about others. she was convinced that colten and austin had to meet him in order for them to believe he wasn't trying to use her.

"good! otherwise this would have been really awkward and trevor would be in deep trouble," reese joked. jamie smiled, a genuine smile. his mood immediately changed around her. she then pointed to the counter and asked, "should we order our coffees?" jamie nodded as a response.

the two walked up to the counter together. reese didn't need to look at the menu as she has already knew what she wanted. jamie, on the other hand, had no idea what to get and honestly couldn't even comprehend what he was looking at. he was too distracted by the blonde beside him.

"jamie, what would you like?" reese snapped jamie out of his thoughts. shit, he hadn't even realize she had ordered nor did he actually read the menu.

in a panic, jamie replied, "i'll get what she ordered." he gave the barista his credit card and smiled at reese. she gave him a little pout and mouthed, 'i got next time,' not wanting to cause a scene.

after jamie got his credit card back, reese turned around to head back over to the table. jamie followed her, not knowing what was fully going on. as they got into their seats, reese asked, "you weren't paying attention, where you?"

jamie's face turned a light shade of pink. "no, i was not," he looked down at his hand as he responded. reese grabbed his hand from across the table and said, "there's no need to be embarrassed. i'm just messing around." unfortunately for jamie, his face grew more red at the kind gesture.

trying to push his feelings and thoughts away, jamie stated, "i'm just hoping whatever you ordered is good." reese gasped and pulled back her hand to make an offended look. she told him, "if you don't like my coffee, then there's no way we can be friends."

"i'll just lie then," jamie joked. it had only been the second time they had hung out and he was already getting more comfortable around her. of course, this did not stop him getting flustered.

just then, the barista handed the pair their coffees. they weren't anything too fancy, but jamie still had no idea what it was. he glanced over at reese, waiting for her to tell him what it was. "take a sip first and then i'll tell you," she said before taking a sip of her own coffee.

slightly nervous, jamie grabbed the cup and held the straw at his lips. all he knew was that it was an iced coffee of some sort. he took a quick sip and immediately was overcome with a mocha flavor. there was something else in it, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"i hate to admit it, but this is actually pretty good!" jamie exclaimed.

reese's eyes lit up in excitement as she said, "it's a mocha iced coffee with toasted marshmallow and caramel. they call it s'mores." he smiled at her. she was just so stunning, this whole interaction didn't feel real to him. it was like he was dreaming.

"you good over there?" reese questioned with concern laced in her voice. jamie had zoned out for a good minute and was staring right at her.

jamie cleared his throat, "sorry, i was just thinking about how trevor keeps surprising me with you." he actually came up with a believable lie.

"do you not like surprises?" reese asked.

"no, i do! it's just i'm not really used to this or trevor randomly planning things. it's very unlike him," jamie explained in a rush, partially scared that he upset reese somehow.

reese laughed, "trevor must be changing his ways then because he's done a lot of planning recently." reese's laugh was contangious. he soon found himself joining her in laughter. she then continued, "i really like this one on one time we've been able to have! i want to get to know you more!" jamie couldn't help but grin at her words. his heart fluttered too. jamie knew in that moment he was a goner.
