i know you better than that,

hey, what you doing with

a girl like that? ❞

the cafeteria was buzzing with activity as jisung, minho and his girlfriend, hae-ri, sat at their usual table, surrounded by a group of friends.

it was a typical day, filled with laughter and conversation.

suddenly, a shy and nervous junior student approached their table, clutching a small bouquet of flowers. her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she gathered her courage.

"um, excuse me..., i've been meaning to tell you something..." she hesitantly tugged at minho's sleeves to catch his attention.

jisung and felix exchanged surprised glances. it wasn't every day that someone approached their table like this.

"sure, what's up?" minho shot her a comforting smile, one that made jisung's heart jump leaps.

the junior student took a deep breath and blurted out her sudden confession, "i... i really like you, and i can't stop thinking about you. will you be my boyfriend?"

the cafeteria fell into a hushed silence as everyone at the table and nearby tables turned their attention to the junior student's confession. it was a surprising and unexpected moment.

hae-ri, felt a surge of anger and jealousy wash over her. she clenched her fists, her expression darkened as she glared at the junior student, "how dare you?! he's taken!" she furiously yelled.

minho was taken aback by the sudden outburst. he turned to hae-ri, trying to calm the situation.

"babe, let's not make a scene. she probably didn't know-" minho tried to calm her nerves but nothing seemed to be working.

hae-ri, however, was not easily placated. she continued to glare at the junior student, making it clear that her territory was off-limits.

jisung and felix exchanged awkward glances, not sure how to diffuse the tension that had suddenly filled the cafeteria.

it was a moment none of them had expected, and they hoped it would be resolved without any further drama.

hae-ri's anger flared, and she couldn't contain her frustration any longer.

in a fit of rage, she snatched the bouquet from the junior student's trembling hands and threw it across the cafeteria, scattering petals in all directions

her voice was sharp and threatening as she addressed the junior student.

"how dare you even think about approaching him? he's mine, and you should stay away! you're just a child!"

the junior student, her eyes welled up with tears, was visibly shaken by the outburst.

she bit her lip, unable to respond, and quickly turned away, her face flushed with humiliation.

with tears streaming down her cheeks, she hurriedly fled the cafeteria, leaving behind a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere.

jisung and felix exchanged worried glances, unsure of how to react to the sudden outburst.

hae-ri's jealousy had boiled over, and they could see the hurt it had caused the junior student, "hae-ri, that was too harsh. she's just a kid who didn't know." felix softly spoke.

hae-ri, her anger still simmering, crossed her arms and refused to back down, "i don't care. no one messes with what's mine."

"hae-ri, what you did back there was completely uncalled for. it was embarrassing and cruel. you need to learn to control your jealousy in a more mature way." jisung finally decided to speak up.

his words were sharp, and the tone in his voice left no room for misunderstanding.

he wanted hae-ri to understand the gravity of her actions and how they had definitely hurt the junior student.

hae-ri, feeling defensive and annoyed by jisung's strong words, couldn't help but snap back.

"well, it's easy for you to sit there and judge, isn't it?" she scoffed before continuing, "you don't understand how it feels to have someone try to steal your boyfriend!!"

jisung, exasperated by hae-ri's response, couldn't help but roll his eyes at what he perceived as her stubborn and irrational behavior. why is he even with her???

"oh please. this isn't about stealing anyone. it's about how you looked so insecure," he stood up, fed up with her behavior.

you're better than this, hae-ri." he sarcastically added, purposely trying to fuel her anger before leaving the table.

unable to shake off the sense of unease, jisung excused himself from the table and discreetly began searching for the junior student who had been so embarrassed and upset by hae-ri's outburst.

after a bit of asking around, he finally found her sitting alone in a quiet corner of the fourth floor's steps, her eyes still teary and red from the incident.

"hey, are you okay?" he slowly approached the junior, taking a seat besides her.

"i'm just... i'm so embarrassed." she sniffled before replying.

"i'm really sorry about what happened in the cafeteria. hae-ri's reaction was... uncalled for. she can be a bit overprotective sometimes." he decided to pat the girl's back in attempts to calm her down.

"it's okay, i understand. i shouldn't have approached him like that." she quietly admitted.

"you didn't know and it's not your fault. please don't take it to heart, hm?" jisung slowly replied.

he offered her a reassuring smile and extended a handkerchief to wipe away her tears. the junior student, grateful for his understanding, managed a small smile in return.

"if you ever need someone to talk to or if there's anything i can do to make it up to you, please let me know."

the junior student nodded, feeling a bit better after their conversation.

all this time,

minho silently watched them, he watched them from the corner of the stairs, a soft smile forming on his lips as he observed jisung's kindness and empathy.

seeing jisung lend a comforting hand to someone in need warmed his heart.

it reminded him of the qualities he had always admired in their friendship—his compassion and his ability to be there for others.

he watched as the junior's tears slowly turned into a smile under jisung's soothing words.

minho felt a sense of pride in his friend's actions and an appreciation for the person jisung had always been.

his heart feeling a weird sense of warmth on seeing jisung smile so happily.

but he decided to shrug the feeling off and with a sense of contentment and admiration, he continued to watch from the corner, silently supporting jisung in his efforts to comfort the junior student.
