Chapter 18: When Legends Meet Students

After the events of Operation Typhoon, all soldiers, marines, airmen, and sailors were all given leave as the Atlas military was crumpled and those who didn't accept the leave were put on the UN QDF (Quick Defense Force) for a temporary amount of time, at least until the next operation. Since the main forces were now on leave or in the QDF, all reserves from every current country that had some were deployed to defend the shores of Vacuo to the shores of Mistral.

Walking down the street were two of the most prominent soldiers of the French Military, Albert Severin Roche, and Rene Fonck.

Albert: Alors, vous ne vous souciez pas d'être haut dans le ciel? (So you don't care about being high in the sky?)

Rene: Non, on s'y habitue généralement en une semaine environ. (No, you usually get used to it in about a week.)

Albert then nodded his head in agreement.

The two French soldiers then walked around into a small coffee shop, only to bump into Jaune and Reese who had split up from the massive group talking about why Jaune ran out to the Paladin and how he found the courage to do so.

Albert: Désolé pour ça, vous deux. (Sorry about that, you two.)

Jaune: What?

Rene then smiled speaking English in a heavy accent.

Rene: Ah, an American!

Jaune: Well... we're technically not American.

Rene: Oh ho, so a native to Remnant, I see.

Reese: Yup, so uh... what's your guy's names?

Rene: I am Rene Fonck, this here is Albert Roche.

Jaune then froze.

Jaune: 'It's him... the First Soldier of France...'

Albert: Pourquoi dites-vous nos noms? (Why do you say our names?)

Rene: Parce qu'ils ont demandé. (Because they asked.)

Albert: Ah. Eh bien, demandez-leur s'ils ont besoin de quelque chose. (Well, ask them if they need anything.)

Rene nodded.

Rene: So, did you kids need anything?

Reese: No-

Jaune: Yeah.

The three then looked to Jaune.

Jaune: You're Albert Severin Roche, right?

Albert nodded.

Jaune: Well, it's great to meet you! I heard all about your endeavors.

Reese: Who is he?

Rene then translated to Albert while Jaune informed Reese.

Albert who then spoke a broken type of English in a heavy French accent.

Albert: You... know who... am?

Reese: What?

Rene: Sorry about him, his English isn't very good.

Jaune/Reese: Ah.

Jaune: Anyways, yeah I heard you had captured tons of prisoners.

Rene then once more translated for Jaune as Albert smiled.

Albert: It's.... good... uh, people... know me.

Jaune then nodded as Reese smiled at the small interaction.

Reese: Well, I guess we should get going.

Rene: Ah, of course, of course, go ahead.

Jaune and Reese then said their goodbyes as they all had split up from each other.
